Could be true. who knows, like always information managment is not one of the strong points of SE.
I would very like some info from Com Reps. SOME info would be nice^^
Pretty sure that's SE folks.

This is why people want SE to be more straightforward with information. Who is correct? The Gamewatch article passing on info Yoshi stated, or the original Sep-Early October (which time is running out) date? You'd logically say SE, but so far it's quite obvious nothing is on track.Originally Posted by GameWatch

For Tokyo Game Show's FFXIV ARR is the new trailer only. There are no test machines or like Gamescom 2012's live presention and on 11/11 all worlds will be closed followed by Producer Letter Live and go into Japan first Windows Alpha test.
How sad. I would still like to hear what their new timeline is going to be, because so far the last chart they gave us is way off now. This is the most crucial time to stay in communication with us, because we all need to know what is happening before the shut down next month. I don't mind if they delay, but they need to be pretty damn open about it instead of hiding it in messages.Pretty sure that's SE folks.

Anyone in Alpha has to sign an NDA, so I would not be surprised if indeed it started today or recently.
If that happens, good luck finding ppl to play with when the game restarts. If they can't manage to have a "short" period of downtime they will loose lots of subscriptions.
Well from what they (SE) were saying, alpha is mainly just to see how well the servers preform under pressure. So it's a stress test primarily. Yoshida mentioned that for alpha, they'll be telling players to go to X location and fight X enemy, then go to Y location and defeat Y enemy. So alpha probably won't even last for too long. At most, it may just last a month or maybe even a few weeks.
They will gain more new subscribers then they could ever lose of current ones.
I don't really care how long it takes, just get it right this time.
i wonder if they will limit the alpha to one zone like before. I expect so, I also expect Black Shroud.
Like someone mentioned already, alpha is mainly just a stress test. Yoshida mentioned they will test how good the servers handle alot of ppl in one area.
Dont think you need more than one area for that purpose.
I guess it will be gridania/ black shroud like in the live letter.
Another note since no one can confirm an alpha invitation, i guess nothing happend outside of Japan yet.
But i strongly believe Japan got it started already.
