I think the new spell casting animation is beautiful and i love how the weapon glows.
because he is summoning the stones around him and smashing/shooting them against the enemy afterwards... well for you it seemed to be too fast to recognize..
for me.. i love the new animations now. it looks not that awful static like the animation which we have now.
i love THAT animation (best you chose HD quallity and do fullscreen)![]()
Please do not rate the new animation according to the one we have right now, we all know the current animation isn't that brilliant. Saying things like "At least it's better than the current one" is just.. wrong.
(Not a wrong statement, but a wrong way of looking at it, the current animation should never be included in the equation.)
It's not "The current one VS the new one" It's about having a nice animation that doesn't look awkward or weird, especially when it's an animation you'll be seeing the whole time, over and over, in every battle.
And again, I'm not talking about the effects around the character, not the flares and flames, not the glowing weapon. Those are very cool. But what I'm talking about is character himself, his movement, he's moving and circling his hips in a weird way while casting.
We can see it clearly in the link Tonkra provided (Thanks) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnFLSH2jkjw#t=74m35s
I'm hoping it's just like what Yukikaze Yanagi said, unfinished.

i was responding to Op which had a different issue. Moving hips fall under "personal taste"Please do not rate the new animation according to the one we have right now, we all know the current animation isn't that brilliant. I cant help but see DBZ in that animation.
Spirit Bomb or something. . . lol
Just wait they will add the psych feature from the recent Dragon Quest.. XD haha
I think its ok. I really liked FFXI's. I thought FFXIV's was lazy. It would be nice if the casting animation changed as you combo'd. So if your Stone landed, the casting animation for Stonera would be different. I think that would be a nice add.
The gif animation is sped up compared to the normal timing of the casting animation. I believe it can be fine tuned more. I like it more over the current animation we have. I really like the idea of combo animations. For each combo a different animation. Showing how strong the spell or how hard conjuring that specific spell is.
I... Have to say that, well...
I get where they are going with the animation: Casting magic is an actual effort, and if the character doesn't moves it does not gives the impression he IS making effort, i'm definitely not against his "i'm carrying a piano" waver and stance.
However, the "humping the air" portion is a bit weird looking, I admit, but not truly bad.
Taste, I guess?
