One thing I always found odd while traversing through the many streams of the black shroud was, why isn't my character being reflected in the water? Ok I understood for FFXI there were limitations because of the technology but I feel XIV should at least have little things like that.

No, no, and no again. Rift's rifts are freakin BORING, and ANNOYING. Sure it's cool and makes it feel more "alive" the first few hundred times you're forced to do a rift cause they're attacking the place you need to turn in a quest....but when you login and want to do something other than rifts, it's really frustrating and irritating.

Just, as a little example, Rift was so mind-blowing that I didn't even make it through the whole free month after buying the digital collector's edition....please don't take ques from this game, unless your goal is to completely revamp what they've done.
Note that i said "adopt a similar strategy". I too didn't make it past the first week in RIFT, but it is a good idea for keeping the open world alive. Systems similar to this are what i'm referring to, not a copy & paste.

Campaign, Besieged & Dominion Ops helped, but they are confined to their respective locations. I'm referring to a system that would make the world more alive not just a set location (be it battles or environmental changes).

And well , i think most of us got dissapointed after readin months before release that the "Desert" city of Uldah,
was...bl bla...bla & when we finally go there, it was all rock & rubble, no san-dunes at all... extremly dissapointing.
But for now...i guess were stuck with it.
Yeah I thought it would've been something similar to Altepa Desert in XI, or at least have a similar area somewhere outside the zone. Im sure we'll get an actual desert area at some point though. This seems to be closer to those savannah style areas around Windurst.

Campaign was a national event that affected quite a bit, including eventual siege of the big daddy Shadow Lord himself, hence campaign. ;p

    * Water puddles when it rains. (when rain stops, the puddles fade away, maybe add some raindrop effects in the puddles / streams too)
    * Visual weather effects on the UI, when it's Windy, maybe some leaves, grass can get stuck on the screen. (for a few seconds)
    - Sandstorm effect on UI / screen, sand-grains getting stuck on the screen... etc (you get the general idea)

    * When it snows... actual snow on the ground, wich also leaves foot-prints when stepping in it.

    - Option to turn these extra effect on / off ofcourse.

    Areas:

    * Some Heavy-fogged / misty - magical forest much like in FFXI.
    * A proper desert / dunes area.
    * An area with some real heavy / wild snowstorms, im talking Epic Nordic Winters, with frost & reflective ice cystals here & there.

I personally like "Cassiopeia Hollow" but it feels abit empty, there's no hidden treasure chests,
no NM's and its abit too dark in places.

    Monsters:

Sandworms that lurk below the Thanalan desert region.
    - visually you can see them digging around underneath from the moving crust in the ground where it is,
it dosent have to be a massive sandworm , a medium-small one would be cool too,
but everyone like insanely massive too i guess.

Rabbit, i miss the rabbits, mandragoras & tonberrys.

    Other:

I totally agree with Ruin's areas, its a must have.
Infact maybe ruins in various regions hidden somewhere.

I would also like to see more island areas, even if it means taking a short boat ride to it.
(or perhaps my own company ship)
Hell, why not make our companys own a small island? Pirate Cove Here we come Yarrrr!!!!

Finally, id like to see some more Houses, even small huts here & there in the great field areas, like in coerthas.
Maybe a few npc could live there, maybe some quest givers to Field-gatherers.

    - I <3 Coerthas ! ^.^)b
Wow great post! I know some people may find it annoying to have stuff flying into their screen while on a windy day or a sandstorm but I think that would be really epic feeling. Of course you said to have the option to turn it on or off and thats really smart too. Not only does it give more player options for the environments but it also helps for people and dev teams to make the game usable for lower type systems. Very Good Post!

    Monster life

Right now monster life in Eorzea feels stiff and cold

    here are some ideas:

    Wolf hunting prey/gnawing on bones
Squirrel hiding nuts / eating nuts
    Mole digging for food
    other basic eating animations (grazing)
Opo-Opo climbing on trees to get fruits
Vultures getting some resting time on the ground/tree/high-voltage cable (how about a dead tree)
-> Some kind of resting animation for each mob
Two billygoats ramming into each others horns (obviously to score with a nannygoat)
Doblyn eating some ore and growing a new crystal on its back
    Hog searching for truffles
Firedrake yawning (man that would be awesome, with fire ofcourse!)
Goobbue planting flowers which they take from their head
    Morbol having (deadly) hicups
Crab hiding in the ground (only pincers visible)

i think you get the idea

Or at least other scripted events
There was a nice event once an ingame day at the Leretnieu Lagoon in Lufaise Meadows where a dragon like creature came flying down from some mountain atching a fish from the lagoon while flying over it at high speed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkfA2h-SAl0

That kinda sounds like some of the stuff you'd see happen in some of the later FFXI expansions (Wamoura changing for example). Either way more idle animations for monsters would be nice. Some of them are pretty cool already (dodo head twitching, Crab general jitteryness, etc.) Gobbues should probably scratch their back every so often.

It's difficult to spot but it's in Mun Tuy Cellars, sitting on a rock.
That's hilarious ever since I heard croaking in Mun Tuy I always wondered there weren't frogs in the zone lol.

    PVP Coliseum Content

Player VS Player content is something some but not all players want. This post will be giving a idea that fits PVP & PVE & even a variety of other players including gamblers.

Ul'dah is already filled full of extra rooms and areas that resemble a Coliseum and there's even a cutscene where you fight in one. I think it would be a good idea to implement a instance area where players can PVP each other by registering up to fight, and other players can actually spectate from the crowd by being in the outer area in the stands. Other players could interact with the fights by actually placing bets at a counter thus ridding Eorzea of gil, and also giving something very fun to do!

Personally I as a player love to test my limits, and the best way to do that is to fight another player. This Coliseum Content could very well act as FFXI's Ballista did.

currency could be used to buy perhaps items and gear that can "ONLY" be used while in coliseum,
    example:

gear that receives stat bonus; adds

    while in coliseum combat:
+STR DEX AGI MND INT PTY
    +HP
    +MP
    +Attack
    +DEF
    +Resistance
    etc.

    CREDIT TOO Fieros:

    PvP
*Once the match is set, spectators have 5 minutes to pay admission and get transported to the instance. Everyone is moved back to lobby following the battle.
*Charge admission for spectators (per fight)
*Charge an entrance fee for the participants (various stakes- 10,000gil/ 25,000gil/ 100,000gil)
    *Various brackets to participate (1v1/ 2v2/ 5v5)
*Winner takes all (minus 20% going to the coliseum)

    PvM
*Once the match is set, spectators have 5 minutes to pay admission and get transported to the instance. Everyone is moved back to lobby following the battle.
*Charge admission for spectators (per fight)
*Charge an entrance fee for the participants (various stakes increase the difficulty of monsters- 10,000gil/ 25,000gil/ 100,000gil)
    *Various brackets to participate (1/2/5players vs. 1 wave of monsters[1 round], 1/2/5players vs. 3 waves of monsters[3 rounds back-to-back], 1/2/5players vs. 5 waves of monsters[2 rounds, 2waves then 3waves])
*Winner takes all (minus 50% going to the coliseum, to cover cost of capturing the monsters)
*Winning a match earns Coliseum Marks
*Losing match will cost Coliseum Marks
*(Someone else can find a use for Coliseum Marks)
*No SP, experience, or loot given from monsters- Coliseum is meant for entertainment and challenge
