It's so nice to see our comments/ideas directly impacting development. Stuff that needs to get done is getting done and they're getting a nice list built for brightening the future of this game. This, as usual, is awesome news.Hey guys! We spoke to Producer Yoshida and he likes your ideas about bringing more life to Eorzea and will be looking into them further. Currently the development staff is preoccupied with fixing systems with high priority so these ideas will take a little longer to be implemented but please look forward to it.
What other ideas do you have that would make Eorzea feel more alive? ^_^
Heya!
I was so pro with this idea that some months ago I've sent something about this through Feedback & Suggestions.
Long story short, what I wrote in order to make the game itself alive was to have NPCs that wander around the cities and around the lands, which reminds me of an NPC in Vana'Diel near San d'Oria's fields that was running back and forth.
It would be great if what an NPC says would be changed while time goes, like saying something in the day and another thing in the night, or when the moonphase changes or whatever.
In regard of the sound, I recall asking if it would be possible, just like when you walk into the nature hearing animals sound, to hear people speaking in the background (obviously, not too loud). I remember something like that in The Last Remnant, and I think that gave the city of the game a good and alive feeling.
That's what I have to write for now, as it's a little late here, maybe tomorrow I'll have more ideas about this =)
See ya!
And Rukkirii, I give you guys an Internet Good Work charm! Thanks for your efforts on telling us important informations like these!
NPCs like the ones in the starting videos being active in the cities would be awesome
Reposting from the NM thread:
Rare gear should be rare, and earning it should be based on valor and victory in battle. What if HNMs didn't pop...but assaulted Ul'dah on some random time frame...(when they felt they had sufficient strength of numbers vs PCs and could maybe wipe us out). And the massive group of mobs and the HNM poured through one of the passages our of northern Thanalan - or poured out of any of the caves that go nowhere really. And made their way south to Ul'dah trying to slaughter every PC in sight.
Those adventurer's that don't turn and flee, but instead turn to face the HNM and engage, and turn him back so that he flees tail between his legs back to the north are victorious and well rewarded.
But maybe those outside the city fall, and he keeps rampaging through into town and starts slaughtering crafters outside bric-a-brac left and right. If it gets to the point of really wiping the whole map, then the Azemya's sheilds ride to the rescue and save or sorry rears or some such.
Please...think outside the box about what you really want this game to be. It might take work and thought by the dev team, but that's what I want them to do.
What other ideas *opens pandora's box* jk jk. But seriously beastmen in every zone, the zone isn't particularly boring just due to copy pasta or what not its boring due to lack of danger a lot of people have seen this, even people who didn't play XI have seen this, which I find amazing. More beastmen, more danger, more death, more dying, more "beginning levels effing sucks", more failure, but not so much so to the point where we're always dying and we quit playing due to frustration/breaking computer. That's the balance that needs to be adjusted to make the world seem more alive. The monsters they have now, make those non aggressive monsters that yield low sp, they suck, and they suck, and they suck, and they are boring (sorry my opinion), not that I want all the mobs from XI (i would like mandys but everyone has at least one they want back), I would like more unique mobs, taking the front legs off a funguar did not make it more unique. Raptors are almost the same, so you don't have to change them, but some of these mobs are down rigth boring looking, not saying crabs in XI were the greatest or that mandys were or that rarabs were, but I think some of the higher level mobs were cool in XI, but there isn't enough access to the cool higher level mobs we already have in XIV, if that makes sense?
Random Garlean assaults on encampments every couple of hours would definitely make the current world feel like it was actually at war, for starters ^ ^
The missing genders playable would definitely make the world feel more alive to me.

As someone earlier stated, I think it would be really neat to have ruins to explore! the regions are big enough with enough open land to place lots of them; I think La Noscea would be a perfect place for this. Imagine the variety of quests/leves we could get with stuff like this! Leves/quests involving exploring ancient ruins to find certain items or kill a certain boss/monster would be awesome. Give me ancient temples, palaces/castles, pyramids, towers, you name it, breathe some more history into Eorzea! Along with this, I pretty much agree with everything the OP said.
I am 100% behind this idea. Even XI had King Ranperre's Tomb and many other ancient structures. Another way to add some of this stuff would be to add extra bottom areas to every dungeon currently in game, with some sort of boss battle/NM specific to that dungeon. As someone earlier stated, I think it would be really neat to have ruins to explore! the regions are big enough with enough open land to place lots of them; I think La Noscea would be a perfect place for this. Either way, old ruin exploration, ancient towers (maybe with small mechanical touches) among other things are integral to Final Fantasy.

Some suggestion's, mostly graphical effects.
* Swimming fishes in the water streams. (maybe the actual fish that you can catch there?)
* Water puddles when it rains. (when rain stops, the puddles fade away, maybe add some raindrop effects in the puddles / streams too)
* Visual weather effects on the UI, when it's Windy, maybe some leaves, grass can get stuck on the screen. (for a few seconds)
- Sandstorm effect on UI / screen, sand-grains getting stuck on the screen... etc (you get the general idea)
* When it snows... actual snow on the ground, wich also leaves foot-prints when stepping in it.
- Option to turn these extra effect on / off ofcourse.
Areas:
* Some Heavy-fogged / misty - magical forest much like in FFXI.
* A proper desert / dunes area.
* An area with some real heavy / wild snowstorms, im talking Epic Nordic Winters, with frost & reflective ice cystals here & there.
I personally like "Cassiopeia Hollow" but it feels abit empty, there's no hidden treasure chests,
no NM's and its abit too dark in places.
Monsters:
Sandworms that lurk below the Thanalan desert region.
- visually you can see them digging around underneath from the moving crust in the ground where it is,
it dosent have to be a massive sandworm , a medium-small one would be cool too,
but everyone like insanely massive too i guess.
Rabbit, i miss the rabbits, mandragoras & tonberrys.
Other:
I totally agree with Ruin's areas, its a must have.
Infact maybe ruins in various regions hidden somewhere.
I would also like to see more island areas, even if it means taking a short boat ride to it.
(or perhaps my own company ship)
Hell, why not make our companys own a small island? Pirate Cove Here we come Yarrrr!!!!
Finally, id like to see some more Houses, even small huts here & there in the great field areas, like in coerthas.
Maybe a few npc could live there, maybe some quest givers to Field-gatherers.
- I <3 Coerthas ! ^.^)b
