Live Letter III: Changes to "Crystal Shards"

To be honest shards are a waste, why use 3-9+ shards when you can just pop a crystal or cluster into the synth? All they'd need to do is raise crystal drop rate in replace of shards lol.

They could also just make it so really low level recipes don't use shards at all (which would really help out new crafters, IMO)

Hopefully they're nixing shards at least, it's a pointless mechanic at this point. I've never bought a single one and I'm never really worried about running out of them and that's just from ones I've got levelling stuff. If I ever do run out there are ls mates that never want to do crafting that are happy to share.

Crystals/shards/clusters are not going anywhere! They will not be changing from what they are in the current version; however, basically we will be making it so each of these items can be obtained via gathering. As mentioned a couple posts up, we will be making an announcement on topics about this, so please stay tuned!

New gathering system(s) though. Maybe it's being made to keep the bots at bay, in a way smarter than fatigue was?

EDIT: Forgot fishing is going to be even more different still from the other two.

Nope, you can choose which item to gather which pretty much a bot would have to read memory patterns and well, back to square one.

Designing a system specifically against bots in terms of gameplay is a waste of time. Just design it to be fun lol

The new GP system will help to stagger them though.

Also, we saw this in the live producer video - crystal shards are listed alongside the regular items. Kind of lame that we won't get them as an added bonus when gathering crafting materials, but I'm hoping they will increase the # of shards you get to compensate.

Hopefully we'll be able to gather crystals & clusters as well.
