Although I still didn't really enjoy the quests as a whole in general, I did like the assistant, I found her amusing while Hildebrand's char just kinda annoyed me.Hildibrand is funny, but I found his assistant more amusing. Would have loved to one quest mostly involving her. Anyone else find his assistant way more amusing then Hildibrand himself?
On a side note how does how many relics have anything to do with "self worth" or the lack there of. Are trolls getting even more stupid as the years progress?

Hildebrand and the stuff he brings with him is funny.. in small doses. But if he were to appear any more frequently than he has so far I fear he would get old fast.

I kinda like it....not as much as i liked the Biggs and Wedge stuff but, it certainly is a refreshing element.

It doesn't have to do with being Japanese or not. I'm sure you see anime the same way as a bunch of Japanese people see our brony communities - retarded as all hell. However, I have a feeling they don't go to their FFXIV forums to complain about people with MLP in their signature, or people who are fans of it.
But it matters little in the end, because you're still calling the kettle black, pot.

He's supposed to be stupid...that's what makes him funny. I thought he was kind of annoying in the very first inn quests you do because he just seemed full of himself, but after that, the sheer depth of his idiocy became clear, which made him hilarious.

Don't wanna railroad the topic, but actually, I wouldn't say MOST anime is good... SOME anime is good. Some is okay, some is good, and a few are real gems. But most? Most anime doesn't even make it to America, but try looking through some free anime sites that dub stuff that didn't make it across the ocean...MOST anime is garbage, just the same way that most western animation is garbage. But again, each have their gems, and I do agree bashing on anime in its entirety is stupid. You're probably right, but it's funny to see someone say anime is dumb (most of it is hilarious and a lot of it is better than any animation we westerners have, i.e. Rurouni Kenshin, one of my absolute favorites) when they have probably the stupidest show featured in their signature, with an equally stupid community that follows it.
It really is quite ironic.

Stop replying to Klaus, it won't get you anywhere. It doesn't have to do with being Japanese or not. I'm sure you see anime the same way as a bunch of Japanese people see our brony communities - retarded as all hell. I highly doubt he is even a brony.

If internet and television programming of today has taught me anything, it's that the average person has a very low standard for humor. Some people don't even need a joke necessarily; a cue for "laugh here" is enough.
That said, I believe the fervent defenders of Hildebrand in this thread are exaggerating their opinions. I think we all agree the character is cartoonishly silly and at the very least amusing--more clown than comedian. Plus, the animation team gets to have a good time. No one is gasping for breath because they can't handle Hildebrand's lightning wit. No one is laughing their ass off because of his slapstick antics.
Hildebrand is chuckle-worthy. Any more and you're being sarcastic, any less and you are a grown adult playing video games for children lol nerd virgin brb banging hot chix in my maserati.
