Oh and it's "kai-neh", not "kain".. and it is feminine.. u.u
you just blew a ton of peoples mind with that perception im sure
people tend to not think of the concequences of such changes

No, we just realize that FFXIV would handle the situation like every other game in existence - if you don't have room in your inventory, the item can't be unequipped.
so we either get people complaining that it takes up a space in their inventory
or we get people complaining that they cant equip stuff cuz they dont have room in their inventory

Ehm, reckon you ment unequip here?
Nevertheless: Equiping one piece of gear over another would cause the two items to switch places, so basically one would go in and one would go out of the inventory. The amount of time people spend all stripped down is (or at least should be) closer to zero, as you most of the time swap gear instead of taking of the gear.
And it wouldn't be different than trying to get new items into your own or the retainers inventory when/if the inventory is full.
And if you want to undress, then you just have to make sure that you have room in your inventory to do so.
This solution would demand that you would be able to repair your own gear while wearing it.
There is not such a big trick to it, a lot of other games manage to handle this rather well - everything from good old RPGs, WoW, AoC etc., and you don't see the users complain there, they are just happy that their equipped gear does not fill up their inventory.
So no; it's not a problem, and yes; I figured this could seem stupid to a few people as they would think of as a problem.
Another solution could be to solve it like "Dragon Age: Origins": One tab for armor, one for weapon, one for accessories and one for items. This would nevertheless create a lot more tabs, and would not be too userfriendly in the end.
On an overal, this would free aprox 12 slots in your inventory

It can be dropped....just don't try to pick it back up
I've always liked when you dropped something, it actually got dropped on the ground. You could pick it up, other people could pick it up. When a monster died and dropped stuff, they fell on the ground. Still allows a reservation system, but also lets you decide not to pick crap up.

Hey all,
Hvinire here, ready with another comment from illustrious development team member Komoto-san on the subject of player storage space, recipe requirements, and the evolving world of crafting:
Now your task is clear: let's see all those comments on +1/+2 items and anything else you're looking to pass along to the development team.Greetings fellow adventurers!
With the expansion of player storage space, the development team has been talking and would like to give a quick update on their future plans. First in order to decrease the number of necessary materials, they’re looking to adjust crafting recipe requirements. This will affect storage issues, but the development team will continue to make further adjustments to directly address that concern. The development team is also planning to adjust the currently cumbersome UI; however these adjustments are just the beginning.
Also regarding high quality +1 and +2 items, we have made an adjustment where they can no longer be obtained through combat; however they are still obtainable through crafting. We would like to hear your thoughts on whether or not it’s a good idea to remove them from crafting results altogether along with any other feedback on this subject.

I would love to see +1/+2 disappear from DoL gathering as well, that would be HUGE for my storage space.

I would be ok with removing +1 and +2 *materials* completely, but i don't think +1 and +2 *results* should be eliminated. With "results" i mean final products, as swords, shields, armor, potions, arrows. full dishes and so forth. I feel that having different degrees of HQ for those is still valuable, while it's not as important for basic and intermediate materials.
In the end though, the real long term answer to the storage problem is always the same:
Player Housing (and the ability to obtain further retainers)
Placebo solutions can only carry us so far.

Remove +1 and +2 from materials obtained through gathering.
Keep +1 and +2 on finished items.
