well you do have a AMD, but this game does a ton of media loading as you move around, whats your HDD read speed? a SSD will make things 100% better.
your card is good.
or wait till ARR then it should run alot better.

thats bullocks im playing XIV on a WD: Cavier black 7,200 RPM Drive and the only time player popping occurs is when the game reaches the 40 player limit.
Here are my settings:
CPU Q8200 quad core 2.3 GHz
4 Gb RAM
550ti
windows 7 64bit
1920 x 1080 windowed
2x MSAA
gen draw qual 9
bck draw qual 3
shadow 3
amb occ OFF
texture qual high
texture filter standard
Game runs fine for me. Got anything running in the background, ie some crappy anti virus program. I use AVG.
Maybe the issue is with the AMD.

smooth 60 fps on my rig with a corsair force red drive SSD maxed out 1920x1080 regardless of what im doing. no way your getting that maxed on a 7,200rpm way more people on my server also all bunched up in ul'dah.
nope, been smooth since day one on my pc, just the connection was hell of slow & laggy back then. the game did DX error though back then alot.

Using fraps to record the game at 60 FPS, I discovered that the UI elements (action bar, log window, status icons, etc) all update every other frame. So the UI is capped at a constant 30 FPS. This isn't a problem just an interesting observation.
