Discontinued Content in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn

As we transition from the game’s current version to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, existing game content will be undergoing a number of changes. This post will detail such changes coming to achievements, character histories, guild marks, replayable cutscenes, and the availability of the goobbue mount.

Goobbue Mounts
As previously announced, the goobbue horn, which is the item used to summon the goobbue mount, will no longer be obtainable as of the release of patch 1.23a.


Guild Marks
All of your guild marks will be deleted upon logging into A Realm Reborn. For this reason, we urge you to visit the guilds and use your marks before that time. After release of A Realm Reborn, it will also no longer be possible to receive guild mark refunds for previously purchased abilities that have since been removed from the game.

Replayable Cutscenes
As part of A Realm Reborn, the content of nearly all cinematic cutscenes will be reworked. This will result in significantly different viewing experiences for the same cutscene between the current version of the game and A Realm Reborn.


Character Histories
In A Realm Reborn, the date on which an achievement is completed will be recorded as part of an in-game character history, which will be maintained in a manner different from current character histories on the Lodestone. We are also looking into ways to have the current character histories remain accessible on the Lodestone following release of A Realm Reborn.

I suspect Relic weapon is not a concern here. But everything else looks like subject to an overhaul.

Day 1 of 2.0: Spend hours watching revamped cutscenes

Thankfully a lot of these really aren't THAT hard to get, mostly just time consuming. Getting all the aether nodes wasn't very hard, especially with Paladin. Regional leve and behest achievements really just take up time more than anything. 20 leves and 10 behests at each camp in the 3 main zones. The Primal achievements are just for defeating the hard mode once so that's not unreasonable. The hardest part is probably the 5 chest runs of the dungeons or Garuda.

Also note, that that list is just the UI-based Achievements. There are separate achievement that are lodestone only that may be also leaving. Like you can see that the Primal Achievements are going away, but the Ifrit, Moogle and Garuda speed kill achieves that are lodestone only would also be going.

I'm just happy to have my goobbue mount XD. Granted i still use my chocobo for 99.9% of my travel. Still just happy to have it. When 2.0 comes out and new players see our goobbue mounts, you'll see 30 threads on here screaming "WHY CAN'T THEY RELEASE THE GOOBBUE MOUNT QUEST AGAIN!"

I'm surprised the Hamlet ones are staying since they are specifically about Aleport/Golden Bazaar/Hyrstmill. I guess that means that either those areas are still in 2.0 or they will just rename the achievement to Speak of La Noscea/Thanalan/Black Shroud.

Weird. All three Primal kill achievements are going away, but the quests to fight them aren't. Disregard that.
