    Nope, XI is based on EQ (original, base systems wise) and did much much different in many regards which is why it succeeded, XI would have failed if it was a flatout clone, which is why pretty much every "WoW Clone" fails, doesn't even try to do something new or different, just "hey if we copy this we can make a ton of money"...it works for the first month, then well we see what happens.

    Rift even tried to directly compete and well as said, we seen what happens lol. XIV wouldn't succeed even if it was an XI clone because the damage is already done, it has to be it's own entity while taking what works from it's predecessor since it didn't succeed and last 10 years out of "luck" or anything.

    I would not consider FFXI a clone of EQ at all. I've played both and both play very different.

    It doesn't look cartoony at all O.o and its just pre-alpha everything has more life and colors are amazing .. current version hurts your eyes if you are not wearing shades lol so much unneeded brightness

    lol, i have the opposite problem with the current version. I play it on my 46in TV in my living room and if it is daylight outside i can hardly see anything on my screen, its even worse when its nighttime in game or i'm in a cave. and with no options for gamma correction or brightness sliders, i'm forced to only play after dark. thankfully i'm in canada so its starting to come earlier now

    I really don't mind if its a little more "cartoony" I just want the movement thing addressed. I like backing up like in the videos but only when locked on a target when you unlock "movement down key/or controller should allow my guy to turn and take off running.... AND it should look like it does now. I'm having a little bit of a hard time understanding adding jump purely for cosmetic reasons to take something so simple out that made it aesthetically pleasing.

    you and a 3rd of the current player base, it seems all the screaming "NO NO!!" means nothing again. but fear not we get a mount of every critter in Hydaelyn because that's what all the cool kids want. who needs quality when you have so many choices.

    FFXI is not a clone of EQ..but the devs and producer themselves said they used EQ as inspiration for FFXI.

    Also I don't mind the "cartoony" look or whatever is going on with FFXIV. I like the anime/sorta realistic look the characters faces have. Well anyways the game is not finished yet so I'll reserve judgement until they show us something and say "Okay guys this is the final stuff, what do you think?"
