really agree with you and music as well, was so beautiful.Tu'lia is one of the most beautiful zone in Final Fantasy XI. It was also one of the most difficult zone to reach, as you had to do a lot of work to gain access to Tu'lia.
A similar concept to that of Tu'lia would be fantastic for FFXIV, as it's been one of my long time favourite zone in the game.
FFXI 2002-2011 SMN BLU SCH BLM NIN

You're right, it's 2012. Who the hell wants to party up and interact with other people on their server in an MMO anymore? I sure don't. Let me solo my way through the whole game and spoon feed me all the gear without the slightest scrap of challenge or ever having to interact with a soul. That's the game design we want in 2012. I don't even understand why SE is bothering with another online game. They should patch that part out because it's really an unnecessary waste of developemental resources when they could be creating more ez mode instanced/solo content.

I don't recall an MMO holding my hand in later content.
There's already content that you have to earn. Like Nael Van Darnus (Hard). I don't see how your quote makes any sense, at all.
First, we need a complete and worthy storyline that warrants unlocking said zones.

Claiming NM != skillYou're right, it's 2012. Who the hell wants to party up and interact with other people on their server in an MMO anymore? I sure don't. Let me solo my way through the whole game and spoon feed me all the gear without the slightest scrap of challenge or ever having to interact with a soul. That's the game design we want in 2012. I don't recall saying claiming an NM took skill. For that matter, I've yet to see an instanced fight that took more skill than an open world battle. I do recall mentioning that open world content gives you a chance to interact with people on your server. Which is opposed to modern instanced content where your party is automatically formed, teleported to the location, and could be from any server in your battlegroup and the only words exchanged are to pass the blame on to the pet-class when the group inevitably fails due to lack of communication.
Oh my you call that earned content? Asides from the last few missions the story is a joke as far as even remotely difficult content runs.
You can't compare Van Darnus hard versus something you truely earned like Sky or Sea, both required a great deal of time and effort to gain when they were relevant content. This game you just need a party thats it, no special preperation is required for any of the fights, hell you rarely need to move farther than the closest aether to even do most of the quests.
But your right, teleporting around the world a few times, and having 1-2 decently difficult fights is totally the same as the feeling of accomplishment that getting Sky or Sea was like.
You know this entirely depends, I don't consider most instances to take "Skill" unless it's a group going in blind otherwise your only skill required is following a checklist. Following a strategy for a raid is as skilled as claiming a NM.
*edit*
Hell even a NM during it's inception requires some "Skill" as you call it. You need to figure out not only where and when it spawns, how often, what it drops, what it's skills are, what other dangers are present (You know ever changing open world instead of scripted hallways) Then you even get to see if you can even kill the thing.
