
All that does is deal with a symptom instead of dealing with the actual problem. Unless you're a crafter gil isn't exactly easy to make. Money made from leves pales in comparison to what prices are, there's little to no reliable gil sinks in-game (repair NPCs made exponentially worse than crafters for one), and forced rarity (especially in the case of melds and materia) have done a number on prices and the economy. This in turn means some will abuse anything that might seem to be an oversight in the system to make as much money as they can because, hell, they need it.
No idea how to fix it outside of adding gil sinks in game, but of course, since the developers care about crafters, there's only so much they can do on that front. =/
Exactly, they cant really change too much when it comes to items and NPCs without affecting crafting.. so even changing the price on 1 item could cause a ripple in the crafting system..
