The numbers go down, the value remains. You can buy with 1k gil the same items in 2.0 what you can buy now for 10k gil.
And about the items in the market wards, the prices would drop if nobody want to buy them with the old prices.

He has stated on a number of occasions that we will not lose anything we have earned during the changeover to ARR. I have been an active player since the Sept. 2010 launch. While I was never in it to make scads of Gil and I didn't I do not like the idea of losing what I did earn. My purchasing power and earning power will drop dramatically if I go from 53Mil to 5.3 Mil. Despite what alterations they make to NPCs a Free Market will eventually make most things unafordable to me. I am assuming that this is to accomandate the new subscribers entering the game as well as to combat the RMTs who made tons of Gil unopposed by SE in Ver 1.0. This is going about it the wrong way. New subscribers will have Worlds created for them and have the option to go there. As far as RMTs are concerned a dedicated Special Task Force can handle that just like trhey did in FFXI. So til I hear more details about how they plan to implement their new economic system I believe that this is a bad idea. Strictly my opinion.

Dude you dont even understand, all they are doing is making the new gil Valued MORE than the old gil for the same amount. Everything and everyone will have their Gil move down one decimal.

your not losing anything nor is it going to be worthless. I don't know what your math teachers are teaching people these days but anyone with a brain on their shoulders will understand why this is being done for the players. ITS A GOOD THING.

in theory it may be valued more because there is less of it, but in practice this never happens. the market is too volatile and prices fluctuate too much for that to happen. some items may drop to below that 10% of the value it had previously, but i can assure you some items will only take a small percentage hit and still some other items may actually increase in value.

I kind of hope they do the redenomination thing and divide everything by 10. It would be aesthetically pleasing as too big of numbers are being thrown around right now, and also it makes people who don't understand basic economics really mad and it's fun to watch. Also I can laugh at my gillionaire ls mates that spent a couple hours after that announcement moving gil to alts.

He hasn't gone back on a promise. You are not losing anything. EVERYTHING is being SCALED porportionally. Everyone's gil is being scaled by the same amount, the NPC buy and sell prices are being scaled by the same amount, Gil given is being scaled by the same amount.

If you have say 10,000 gil now, you'll have 1,000 gil after, yes, but that 1,000 gil will buy the same stuff that the 10,000 would have bought before. In other words, the number might be smaller, but the value is the same.

This scale back is good for the long run. Imagine how intimidating it would be for new players to see things being sold for 100mil.

not any worse than it will be for them to see they are selling for 10mil when it takes forever to make gil since everything will give them less gil. it's all relative.

something costing a million when you can make 50k a leve isn't any different than seeing something cost 100k when you make 5k a leve. either way it's the same amount of time and actions to get what you want.
