Latency for me is more important. Ifrit is a total pain due to it. People ask for latency problems to be fixed, well, here it is?
I can see if many of you are bilingual you would be upset if you made JP friends. But you do get to decide who you want to associate with most. I was surprised we still mingled with JP players in 1.0 actually, let alone if it continues into 2.0.
Closer Data Centers are needed. You have a choice in the end.
Reki, the problem is not about the decision to have Data Centre, ppl welcome it for the sake of low latency, which is good, but they do not want to be separated just to have low latency... . People want both!Latency for me is more important. Ifrit is a total pain due to it. People ask for latency problems to be fixed, well, here it is?

To stay international and having low latency! that what people wanted! Make it phase is much much better, is possible!
I can see how the inclusion of regional data servers can present a problem. Let's say we have Person A (US), Person B (EU), and Person C (JP) who are all friends. You all get together and decide to gather at one of the US servers. Problem solved, right? In some cases that may be all there is to it, but for many cases it will be more complicated than that. Let's say Person C is also friends with Person D and Person E who are also residents of Japan. Okay, Person C talks with each of them and convinces both to come to the US server, but what about Person E's EU friend? I think you can see where I'm going with this. It basically comes down to two choices:
1. Gather all your friends and each of their groups of friends until you can all get together and decide on a server to join.
2. Be split up from your friends one way or another.
Sure, Person A may be able to get all their friends to join the same server, but it can't be guaranteed that each of those friends will get to be with their own groups. Not everyone has such a complex circle of friends, but there will be those who are affected.
Personally I feel inclined to say that sticking with friends is more important than reducing lag/latency.
I see a few comments here and there saying there should be an alternative infrastructure solution. Can't say it would be something I'm familiar with, but I would be interested in knowing whether it's something SE could pursue.

http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/dow...Outline_EN.pdfPC search function to be completely overhauled, and a search UI added with various functions (e.g., Free
Company searches).
Release of a content finder system after version 2.0.
Content finder to allow input of information such as class, job, and level, to find other players across all worlds for groups for dungeons, instanced raids, primal battles, etc.
Further details to be released as they become available.
A Server System Built to Support a WorldlessModel
・Party/content matching for players from different World servers
・High-speed searches for PCs, items, player community data
・Changes to the basic infrastructure to improvedata transferefficiency

This is awful news, I would loose a large part of the friends / and-or Ls members through this. I really hope they find a possible alternative solution.
Content Finder is good, but that isn't what I am concern about, that is just a tool to find me a Party, i'm talking about something entirely different thing.
OH GOD WHY CAN'T SE MAKE IT ONE SERVER ONRY AND MAKE IT PHASING!
If I'm reading those comments correctly those look like some very relevant points to bring up. I would absolutely consider it something that SE needs to discuss further with the community to explain the direction they are taking things.

Because the people whining want to force the rest of us to go down the drain with lag with them. Some of us might actually want to play on a regional server and not lag. We also dont want to be forced on a server just because you have friends on it. Let those of us that want to leave your lag server leave and try to have some fun with this game.
Idn.. I just feel that perhaps were reading what they said like reading a book upside down, everyone's understanding of what is said is mixed, 1 person says this, another person says that, another person agrees with that person etc etc. I think someone needs to sit down and sort out what is said word for word, and give a detailed analysis.Reki, the problem is not about the decision to have Data Centre, ppl welcome it for the sake of low latency, which is good, but they do not want to be separated just to have low latency... . I feel most people just skimmed Bayohne's post, and came to like 5 different conclusion, when their is clearly only 1. and these are Servers were talking about ( Computer related stuff that I'm sure 3/4ths of the people here don't really know, they just making up stuff in their heads to make a conclusion).
Anyways, bottom line is either we need a "Simplified" post from a Dev ( would like this more than anything else), or someone that actually knows about servers to break down what was exactly said on that post. So we can condense these 5+ conclusions ( just making a number randomly :P) into just 1 actual "true" conclusion.
Devs, please make a more simplified version of what you posted so we can have a more "clear" understanding what your intentions are. =).
