What I don't think people are realizing is that the current servers won't immediately change, based on what YoshiP is saying. It will be your choice to move off the current worlds or not.

And then I dont change servers, but my NA and/or EU friends want to. I also cant tell them not to, because I cant hold others back.

If you have friends that you consider "close" outside of your region then why don't you extend that friendship over other social media and enjoy portions of real life with them, rather than just a game.

People need to get over the fact some are honestly upset they may and most likely will be separated from friends they made who play from Japan or Germany for example, yet you're essentially saying they're wrong for that.

If it means I lag more just because you want to play with people from Japan? Then yes, I'll say it: You're wrong.

I can't enjoy the game with the amount of lag I experience now (that isn't based on my system, which is a high-performance rig) and that would be the ultimate killer for me going into 2.0, more so than anything else. I'd rather make new friends on a more local data center and have less lag. That's the bottom line for me and I'm not ashamed of having my own personal opinion and standing up for it, even if it differs from that of other people.

Well, sad thing to read. While I absolutely adore the changes made in 2.0 an announcement of this magnitude and the ramifications it will have effectively destroyed the social aspect of this game (for me at least) and my drive to play 2.0.

If lag is their excuse, maybe they should stop using sub par methods and the community should actually raise their expectations. Lesser companies than Square-Enix have done such while maintaining the global aspect of the game. Why settle for mediocrity when you could ask for so much more, especially a company with a renown like SE?

They did fix their servers, 2.0 servers will be way better than current ones, and responsiveness as shown in the live show are also way better due to more client-side interaction.

It's pretty disgusting the assumptions you're making about others. I absolutely do have true friends. Those are the friends I'm going to be sticking with. I have many other aquaitances who may go their seperate ways. If I miss them, I'll make a character on their world to talk to them.

For every friendship broken, there are also new ones to be made.

Its good your sticking with your friends but thanks to SE i won't be able to do the same, or at least not with all of them, Some of us are being forced to choose between our friends. I want to be able to play with my friends, not just make a character to talk to them.

Claiming that if people don't change servers, their not true friends, that's your opinion and not a fact. You may be upset or feel like i flamed you (which is not my intention) but your doing the same, your arguments about friendship or why people want global servers is offensive, your targeting a group of people who feel a certain way as opposed to one person. Being told that people who choose different servers are not true friends is very offensive, it disregards other peoples circumstances and your making assumptions about other peoples situation.

I don't remember seeing the first stress tests for 2.0 servers, I haven't been on one yet.

So in your beliefs, people are wrong for making friends outside of their own kind, ok.

Also, XIV is unoptimized so your "high performance rig" means jack shit when SE themselves stated the a buggy mess, so it's the game itself that was performing poorly regardless of specs.

There is nothing wrong with it, but what if I want to befriend people from multiple regions? Much like when I head back to Japan I make friends, when I go to France I make friends, when I go to India I make friends and so on. It's not a relationship where you're allowed to be with only one person (unless you're a slut), some people just simply make friends with anyone regardless of nationality lol.

First off they're not segregating the current servers (or any servers technically), second you could easily make a second character in your other friends servers if you wanted so its not like you couldn't play with them if you wanted, we are getting access to a total of 40 characters to make how we please in 2.0. The solution they came up with is a middle ground, there actually ARE a ton of people that wanted regional servers, they already exist now among other things (Ragnarok). The only change is they are finally giving the people who have had huge lag spikes the 'option' to go to those other servers if they feel they can afford to abandon the friends they have established on the old server. Yes sometimes whole communities will migrate because of these changes. They are wedges I wish wouldn't happen but people have been pleading/asking for regional data centers for years even in FFXI where the lag was significantly less then the current game. The solution they came up with is the closest to a middle ground they could afford to do between two very different communal styles.
