To: Yoshida-san, Bayohne and the FF XIV Dev Team,

By officially designating various Servers as "U.S." or "EU" or "Japan", even if you're only talking about the Data and not Language,

You WILL be indirectly causing Segregation of the Final Fantasy Community!

One of the greatest appeals of Final Fantasy XIV (and in XI) is the diverse, multicultural player base.

Playing with players around the world! I've met wonderful players from around the world, from Japan, Australia, Europe and North and South America.

It's one of the things that makes Final Fantasy XIV (and XI) *unique* from all the other MMOs out there.

As limited as your Auto-Translator is, people were still able to communicate, and you had players ONLINE at all times of the day and night (because of the World Servers).

By officially listing Servers in 2.0 as being "North America" or "Europe" or "Japan" etc., you're basically going to cause SEGREGATION.

Of course we can just choose a server in another region to try and retain some international feel, but there will be a good portion of the player base that will choose Lag Free over Community.

So you'll end up with Servers with High Activity during "Prime Time" hours in their region only, and it'll be DEAD at all other times of the day.

So for anyone wanting to play during odd hours (mornings, late at night, etc.), with your Regional Servers, you're indirectly highlighting how EMPTY a server can be as well.

It's fantastic to have Global Servers (No Designation of Country) to have activity at all times of the day and have a diverse player base on the Server.

I hope Yoshida-san reconsiders the Designation / Setup for this.

This is very disappointing news if you let it continue this way into 2.0.

Yea, we'll see how people enjoy ghost towns when everyone segragates themselves. Since its 'optional', it wont SE doing the segragating, it will be the players themselves.

Don't be so small minded. Its not an issue of being surrounded by Japanese writings/sounds, its an issue for those of us who have friends all over the world.
    1) I'm not being small minded, and your words offend me.

2)It is absolutely NOT an issue for people who have friends all over the world. Tell your friends to join the same server. BAM! problem solved.

In fact, based on the live letter answers, the current servers will remain as they are, so you're not going to lose any of your friends unless they personally choose to abandon you for a better ping.

So when one of my LSs decides to go to an NA server and the other wants to go to a EU server, I just have to willingly cut the amount of friends I have in half?
This isn't well said. If they're willing to leave you, then they aren't really your friends.

Are you seemingly so dull minded?
Did you even read what a lot of people have been saying?

Your friends have friends, that also have friends who also have friends, it isn't Rocket surgery.
Everyone has to now make the decision of who to go with and who to leave behind.

    Well, surely it isn't.

Me to Japanese friend: Hey, you should come to the NA server, most of my friends are going there but I still want to play with ya.
Japanese friend: No, you should come to my server. Most of my friends are here in Japan, and are picking the local Japanese servers.
    Me: Well gee, that sucks.
    Ya:

This is why people are saying its not as simple as you make it sound. People aren't saying that yeah, it could be as easy as telling some people to go to X and X server. If you are an NA asking a EU or a Japanese player to come to your server to hang with you, they basically have to sign up for:

    1. Low latency
    2. Different prime times
    3. Depending on the destination server, etc, may or may not speak the language of most of the players.

If you ask someone to join your server, which is based on your region, it invariably sets them up for a gameplay advantage. It is not as easy as "Hey, come join my server" and 'bam,' it's done. Someone has to decide to get a little screwed over. That's what people are upset about. Someone either gets the short end of the stick, or they get all the perks.

then you make the sacrifice, if you don't want to, then don't blame SE or the friends. Things happen, what will you do if the person quits? your going to hunt them down to play with them still? If the friendship is that valuable and still want to talk with them with out sacrificing playtime, get off game connection to communicate with them. I did it with all my FFXI friends as we all trickled off of XI we still talk and have fun but omg we aren't playing together. I don't blame SE on this I will make the effort to spend time with friends I have made, just because you can't do it, don't get upset.

    Hey um.

Not sure where I indicated I was upset. I'm not QQing over this. I'm merely explaining the argument over the other side, and not pretending I don't understand why they would be upset about this. Point your guns elsewhere, chica.

If the case, which seems to be as you stated, you still stated a good quote to use to express my idea. lol.
