Forcing everyone to craft, Is it good direction for FFXIV?

everyone feel like get forced to craft, at least few classes to repair their own gear even someone just want to play the game as fighters but they can't

I do not feel like I'm being forced to craft.

I never have problems getting my stuff repaired. I haven't repaired any of my stuff at NPC for months...

Usually if i stay at camps or outside of AG in Uldah and put my stuff up for repair....go smoke one, and by the time I'm back it's usually repaired lol
Most of the times i put it up for 3-8k.

I don't see any problems, it's easy and cheap to get repairs...i never carry more than two weapons, usually just one.

It was called an example. Its like saying you payed 5000 dollars for a car and were required to routinely pay 5000 MORE dollars to service your car

the example doesnt work when it doesnt apply to the situation though

people arent paying the same price for repairs they are for gear, if they were maybe itd work, but its just in no way shape or form anywhere near the case

Main issue is people are tired of being undercharged for the services they give out. I get alot of people offering sub 1k for high ranking repairs and while I am gererous and do them I see alot of other people actually wanting to be payed for the service they do.

Offers a good ammount of gil and I can guarantee you will be fixed in no time.

It doesn't work huh? I'm pretty certain that no piece of gear I have had made cost any crafter up to 5 million gil to make unless you felt compelled to pay the ridiculous prices in the wards for the mats. Then the fault lies with you.

I'm not saying that I disagree with paying for repairs. After all, my LS does repairs for free amongst the members. I'm just saying there are notable items that cost way more to repair (via NPC or otherwise) than it would be to just get a new one made.

the only gear going for 5mil+ is endgame NM leve gear, and HQ endgame gear

thanks for all suggestions but the fact is the best way for repairing is the NPC since they can do it for everyone, anytime so they should improve the service of NPCs

best way isnt how id put it

most accessible way would be the better term

and unfortunately, you pay for that by paying the price they charge

._. i dont see the reason for me to go to NPC since i can talk to ppl for repairs.. i prefer this way.. more socializing.

The NPC is NOT the best route since an NPC can't always be with you in the middle of BFE. Right now, the fact that any party member can just switch to a crafting class in between battles for a quick fix is largely useful instead of waiting for a break to either spend the time to run back or port back for repairs. Convenient? Yes. Best? Hardly. The biggest problem with switching it to rely on NPCs is that crafters would lose a huge chunk of their importance in the game. If they had some other purpose, then I don't think it would be as big of a loss but many crafters rely on repairs to be important.

I do agree that NPCs do need to be able to repair accessories though. And it NPCs were the sole focus for repairs, it would make an even bigger gil sink...

It should be the best way in normal situation... like a vendor machine, you can drink ice coffee 24/7 when you're live in the city

then when you go to hiking, a friend with good cooking abilities is better way

no need to worry about crafter important, you still be the best choice for outdoor repairing
