That asterisk can even point to a simple, clickable, "check terms and conditions" that will take you to a huge page of legalese. I've had two accounts, one of which has been billing all along and the other started a few days later, both of which are still billing now and will continue to pay for both for many years to come, legacy for life! I'm not trying to fight for my right to get something I already have. I do however agree that we should fight shady business practices such as failure to present all relevant information, up front, in the correct place and format, for the sake of others and for our own futures.
People in general would not like a world in which there were no laws governing how companies present information. Just in the last year or two, Australia has really become quite regulated in this matter. Travel agencies used to advertise flights for $1, then they would tack on $2k (for various hidden taxes and the like) as people signed up. They can't do that anymore, thankfully. Any taxes incurred in a flight are now advertised in the flight fee, not counting optional extras like insurance and what have you.
I recognise that I've gone off track here but the point I'm trying to get at is the same. Relevant information is to be listed (or at least linked to) on the main relevant page. That is really, really, really basic stuff. SE has failed to do that, and continues to fail to do that by leaving that information (or a link to it) off of that page.
I do however disagree that the legacy advertisement should be removed. The page it links to should certainly be updated! However, as things stand now, anyone who has previously paid for two months and then unsubscribed until now can still pay for their last month up until the cut-off date and just squeeze into legacy.
Does that make them any more or less loyal than us? That is not for us to say. Someone can have never bought or played a single Final Fantasy title in their entire life but still be an avid fan. How much you do or do not like/love/respect/whatever something is not for other people to judge. That's a personal matter between you and your heart that has absolutely NOTHING to do with money. People have to get off their gold credit card studded high horses and recognise that the only loyalty/love/etc they have a right to judge is their own. Emotion based elitism is sickening, so much more so than anything else that could split a community. I may be on my high horse right now but that isn't because I think your emotions are any less valid than mine, it's because some people treat others like garbage because they claim some innate right to judge another person's emotions. Treating others badly is not cool.
I'm sorry that this post is long winded and mostly a rant. I try to stay out of stuff for obvious reasons. There were some things here (especially that last paragraph I wrote above) which really irked me and I just had to get them off my chest.
Aside from all of this negativity, and regardless of what you play or do, or if you get legacy or not, I hope everyone has a great time doing whatever makes you happy ^_^
Tl;dr: Yes, they should update the legacy page or at least put a link in the legacy page to the previously posted updated information. No, they should not remove the legacy page, as some people are still eligible to pick up their last month and get in. Don't tell others how loyal they are until you can see directly into their heart, ie: never. Sorry for the long post. Have some bloody fun!
