I can understand getting rid of them for a temporary thing, than add em back in after 2.0. buuuut ya, this is just lazy and unintuitive on their part. No! This decision had to be made very early on in development. That H key was added months ago! This has nothing (or very little to do with) deadlines.
I don't know. But it would probably be just for your character and not for everyone else's. Would that really make you feel better? It would probably just be weird.
Are you really going to throw out all the good things about ARR just because they took out a few animations?

I remember the first time I saw video footage of 2.0 and noticed that they had gotten rid of the sluggishness of moving your character. To be honest I'm a little sad to see it go. It would be nice if they could keep it and maybe just tone it down.
It's not an entirely huge deal for me, I just hope they don't sacrifice too much to make it a FF copy of popular MMOs :x
I really hope it's not going to be a WoW clone of final fantasy character design and art style... especially with all that question marks floating on top of NPCs...
I hope Yoshida knows they need to at least keep some japanese/eastern RPG elements and originality in the game.
I guess people are starting to see what I see when I first saw yoshi come on board.I really hope it's not going to be a WoW clone of final fantasy character design and art style... especially with all that question marks floating on top of NPCs...

We have elder scrolls - they dont use ! / ?. Thats not really an eastern/western thing - thats a company thing.I really hope it's not going to be a WoW clone of final fantasy character design and art style... especially with all that question marks floating on top of NPCs...

Thing is they should be adding animation not taking it away and add a feature that is completely aesthetic, I'm looking at you jump. They should have kept the animation, improved on it, added jump with additional animations.I remember the first time I saw video footage of 2.0 and noticed that they had gotten rid of the sluggishness of moving your character. I think it's silly to say that taking out a few animations is "lazy and unintuitive". Lazy means that they could have done it, but didn't feel like mustering up the time and resources/manpower to do it. This does not appear to be the case. It appears that they weighed the pros and cons of it against what they had already decided what the goal was. You may want this game to be a hard hitting, graphical powerhouse, but remember that's what the game is right now. But it's doing terribly. Why? Because people who are not Rokien, people who are in the majority, care more about gameplay than graphics.
Saying that it's unintuitive is also strange. You would say it's something unnatural or "weird" to cut back on these animations. But the goal was to make the game "lighter" They did that graphically without cutting down on quality. The game actually looks more natural environment wise. But if they were going to meet their goal, they had to cut somewhere.
Once ARR hits I believe Content Finder will be the most crucial part in the game. So much is revolved around it.... but I don't think new players will care... and old players will forget about it so long as the rest of the game is good.
It was a calculated decision. It has nothing to do with your preconceived ideas about what FFXIV is supposed to look like. In the best case, we're all just going to think back at these posts and laugh.
Don't get me started on content finder D:<I think it's silly to say that taking out a few animations is "lazy and unintuitive".
