lol, okay well you clearly don't understand what I meant... as I said before a lot/most of the FF Forum posters are in their own world & would be perfectly fine if things stayed the same, which is basically what this thread is demonstrating. Maybe a lot of people havent played many games and FF is all they know, so how can you compare it to anything else to know what they may/may not be missing out on.Sometimes it's best to take one's own advice.
As much as you guys have been tired with this post, I'm tired of most of these comments, they are pretty much what I said, the general mindset of the avrg FF forum poster is, "if you don't like it, leave." So let me tell you what's up.. 2.0 isnt for you... It's for people like me.. people who are skeptical about FF and they want us to play & enjoy it. Clearly you guys are already so much in love with things, so fine.. enjoy 1.xx, I'll be looking fwd to 2.0.
I've been reading these forums for a month and never posting, till recently, that I have been able to experience enough for myself, so I feel confident I can post now.
Btw i'm not asking for solo-focused whm, I'm asking for expanding the class, which yes they mentioned they are re-working many skills, but with so little information coming out, we have no clue. So we have posts that people want sheaths & all kindas stuff that personally to me dont matter, so I'm voicing what I feel would be a good idea. I don't bitch about your other stupid requests.. Get with the times, your developer obviously is, you guys are still stuck in the past, 2012 & people are QQ'ing they want their animation locks and glitching, atrocious loot system, 17m dungeon runs just so you can spam the dungeon in hopes of getting a drop.. QQ moar about jumping & grass. All you guys care about = aesthetics. Mechanics mean very little to you guys obviously. Answer me about the primal weapons? Every class BUT whm has decent weapons.. what about endgame..
SO.. this is current endgame that you guys have been running:
AV/CC TA, Primals/Moogle, Hamlet, GC Storyline
AV/CC TA.. some rly nice pieces, (ex. boots enm -30), awesomesauce, but.. no body..
Primals/Moogle..For whm u might as well remove off the list cuz you damn well aren't going for whm weapons.
GC storyline.. GC weapon? not so much, some decent gear. Final earring is nice.
Hamlet.. okay we want relics, anima refill, so it's okay
Sentinel
Acquired: Level 22 Gladiator
Temporarily reduces damage taken. Increases enmity generated by actions while effect is active.
- So you get hate, you stand there pop sent for dmg reduction and just stand there until the hate shifts.. AMIRIT PLAYA?
- Shroud of Saints - Holla at me? instant 50% hate reduction you can go from blinking red to yellow/Green + MP regen + continue to regen, light cure (as you do regain your hate, hopefully by which time it's shifted).
I'm done with you guys, lock this thread, i'm going to sum up the current & all future responses to this post: IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, LEAVE!
Sentinel lasts for seconds. You're not stripping hate from a good tank.
darklight gloves and darklight breeches are BiS for whm. other than that, i agree whm does get shafted a bit on desirable loot drops in the game. sentinel has been tested thoroughly and doesn't increase enmity generated by cures. triggering it won't give you a sudden spike in hate as a whm, and the damage reduction is invaluable for predictable burst damage.
whm definitely isn't perfect. it's a really easy and fairly boring job, though still an improvement over xi whm. if square could make it as deep and dynamic as wow's priest it would be perfect (as currently it resembles more of a shaman sans totems, and resto shaman isn't as faceroll as holy paladin... but still pretty damn faceroll), or close. i agree it needs some instants, absolutely. but making regen instant would just be too overpowered right now. it's already 56 mp for 2500+ effective healing on a short cast and recast time. making it instant would require greatly reducing the duration or nerfing the amount it regens for.
as far as being weak outside of a group, that's not really true either- though it does depend a bit on what you're fighting. due to weaknesses in elemental or particular types of damage, whm can destroy some mobs while being fairly weak to others. it does have a lot of healing throughput though, so this offsets the lack of big burst dps. but the bottom line is, whm is great for moogle speed runs, can blast through kobolds easily when spiritbonding unfinished relic, and can be a solid alternative to monk on rivenroad (hard) in killing golems (with the added benefit of using aerora to dispel Darnus's huge defense buff)
tl;dr while not perfect, whm is still extremely strong and pretty easy to gear up and play in the current version. a lot can be done in 2.0 to make whm more exciting and i hope they do, as i like healing but it's not terribly interesting right now and there's not a lot of PHAT LEWTZ to look forward to.
I agree that some spells perhaps should be able to be cast on the move but i think if they took it too far you'd start seeing more nuke/dot kiting of vastly stronger enemies. That and i actually kind of like how spells are so hard to cast that your character has to stop moving so they can concentrate even if the movement errors are kind of annoying.

The only thing I agree with here is reducing the cast time on Esuna. I think that should be an instant cast because it does so little. All it takes is a boss to stack Petrify and one other debuff and you are screwed for 10s or more. Dodore for example you could be casting Esuna on ever CD and your tank would still be debuffed.
Other than that WHMs are slightly overpowered. Mind you there are a lot of bad WHMs that don't have their sub classes leveled. I have more than once found my self cure bomb tanking something (Skirmish Tree anyone?). A WHM in DD gear is actually quite powerful too and can land 1k+ Stoneras.
The short stick? Are you kidding me?
The biggest thing I'd like for WHMs are enmity reduction. And lots of it.
buttsex...
originaly had goober with a choco's head up his butt...but i geuss i deleted it oh well.but i pretty much agree with you(mujen) and a few others. just need to learn to play it within the paramaters that are available, besides 2.0 being right around the corner people are going to need to "relearn" a little bit on their classes/jobs any way.
Black Mage got the shorter end of the stick compared to White Mage.
Almost every single piece of Mage gear shares Whm/Blm stats but its almost always geared for white mage, look at Darklight Mage gear for instance.
White mage has way better MP management than Black Mage, I almost never go out of mana on white mange, black mage you have to be way more careful.
Aero/Stone combos god damn rock on single target attacks, where as black mage only has thunder lines for single target. I am not considering ice because Ice spells are so damn terrible. And you have more enfeebles that actually do something and more safe. You can add DoT and be safe, where as I have to be in the face of the mob to have a dot. We only have one useful enfeeble that's sleepga.
If the player wanted to for pvp you could make a killer white mage for damaging.
