    NO!!!! I do NOT want weaponskills for mages in 2.0! I absolutely do not like how they are changing weaponskills and combos AT ALL! Please do not ruin the non melee jobs with weaponskills! It'll kill and break the game for me. (I'm actually secretly hoping people in alpha and beta share this same concern that I do and SE decides to keep it similar to how it is now.)

    Not really, in 2.0 you start with full TP, you just regen it, so its another resource at a mages disposal and something to do while out of MP

    thing is, I can melee with those non melee jobs..... I know, but you can melee, so saying they are not melee is a little silly. Lets talk about ranger then, they shouldn't get any ws, because they don't melee..... Let's also not forget how much they wanted to be able to MELEE with the book*cough* summoner *cough*.

    This is one of Rokiens good post. Personally i wouldnt mind Ws if they drain MP like i said from the mobs, or like someone else said had a Debuff effect. Hell they could throw minor Dot On them. And to the people say up personal we you kinda are gonna be up and personal while soloing which the ws would be nice.

    I actually liked somewhat the ones they already had in game. I don't really miss them, but as far as mage's go, if they implemented something that was useful I would be all for it. I never have my weapon drawn though, so it kinda defeats the purpose. Those extra few seconds of lost mp regen can make all the difference in a fight, especially if its for a waste of a weapon skill.

    well the new gameplay video they showed the whm had her weapon out casting which might mean you might gain mp with your weapon out now. or they are just trolling us.

    How would it ruin anything? Did weaponskills ruin mages in FFXI? no, they didn't. Most of them weren't very useful, but there were some that had situational benefits. Are you afraid that mages won't cast spells anymore or something? Magic would always be their main focus. But it's silly to even have a TP bar at all if it can never be used for anything.

    Stop being so goddanged resistant to change. The game is going to transform radically for 2.0- it's not just a bugfix update. Accept it or move on.

    If you're soloing, odds are you're taking hits, which means your MP regen is already garbage. Mage weaponskills would most likely do things like recover MP anyway, so this wouldn't be a problem. They could always change it so active mode doesn't hinder MP recovery.

    I remember the most bad ass WHM i ever had in a FFXI party was when he fought with a kraken club and just mass spammed that MP or HP healing WS forget what it was if it was HP or MP. Either way that was the best party i was ever in XD.

    Quelling Strike -with Magical attack would give blackmage TP. Once Blackmage reaches lets say 2000TP it can use a TP cost ability to boost there regan up to 200% speed while standing still. So from 0MP to 3000mp it takes about 2mins and with that ability it take about 1min.
