Learn to read. I wasn't arguing for regional servers (which I'm in favor of but that's not the point), I was pointing out the need for vast improvements in the auto-translate function. Without improvements to the auto-translate function, the ONLY benefit to global servers as apposed to regional would be stuff selling in the wards at all times of the day.

So, just letting you know that SE hasn't totally flopped on the whole auto-translation thing, they put in a hell of alot more effort than most companies do...wich is none.

Square Enix is the only company that advocates a global gaming community, and in fact uses it as a selling point. So what's your point?

That may change with the advent of a fully realized auto-translate function in conjunction with evened out latency. It may not though based on obvious cultural differences. Honestly what English speaking person ever says "thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass" other than FFXI and FFXIV players who have it engrained in their heads from auto-sentence-finishing (because that's all the auto-translate is good for).

In the end it's unrealistic to expect PS3 players to have to use facilities outside of the game itself to communicate with up to 50% of their community on their server (depending on what server).

Technically even PC players have to go outside of the game if they want a more direct translation than Auto trans offers. I'm not sure what you expect them to do.

It would be nifty though if they allowed a APP of some sort to Auto translate (As best it can) for players. But I'm not sure on the legal implications of automatically translating text like that.

We may see mods for that but only on PC. What I expect them to do is to segregate servers so that if I am on during my region's prime time, I have a larger pool of people to play with. When I'm not in the mood to translate (ie: I just want to poke stuff with my lance, not make a friend on the other side of the world who I will probably never associate with ever again), the Japanese player base is dead to me. In fact, for me, they are a nuisance because they fill my shout log with indecipherable spam.

This is obviously where we differ.

What about the European community? What about the Austrailians? What about Poeple who live in other places of the world not in your timezone? Many people will be stuck either playing on a server with no people of the native language during primetime or being left to rot if they don't play during primetime.
