No, the majority apparently would quit if servers became regional, well at least according to one or two people. Please grow up. Regional servers is actually a move many of us would appreciate, but they haven't even been confirmed yet. Even so they already said there isn't going to be any restrictions on what realm you can roll on, so there'd be nothing stopping you from rolling on the same realm with all your friends.
People don't appreciate Regional Server but the reduction for the Lag Problem (and if u remember SE said that have found the problem for the actual problem lag and will correct in 2.0... and if the correction for SE is Regional Server.. Good Game -.-" )
And yes, i'll roll in all server that my multiple worldwide friends go.. Ubiquity (Can I have it?) /sarcasm
In all MMO i've ALWAYS hated regional server... Why you force me to play only with EU player or NA player or JP player only? It's called Massive Multiplayer Online not Regional Multiplayer Online -.-
I really hope in a misleading traduction and in 2.0 won't come the Regional Server. Please SE were doing well.. don't send all in s**t now PLS.

The only upside of having regional servers is reduction in lag, but SE may have found a fix and allow us to play internationally. Well there's always the xenophobia as well, which it seems people suffer.People don't appreciate Regional Server but the reduction for the Lag Problem (and if u remember SE said that have found the problem for the actual problem lag and will correct in 2.0... and if the correction for SE is Regional Server.. I also agree with you, regional servers are evil and segregate the community for very little reason.
The only pro for regional servers is less latency to the server, cons are segregating the community, you have to play during prime time or you will get nothing done, less people to play with, not learning about other cultures (part I love)
Pros for international servers is the cons I put above just reversed, and cons are only higher latency (which SE may have fixed.)
It all boils down to how Square Enix is going to improve the auto-translate function if they decide to not have regional servers. It's entirely impossible for English only ps3 players to use google translate to decipher Japanese (and vise versa), unless they know how to pronounce and in turn properly spell all of the English derivatives of Japanese characters. It's really rare to see a Japanese player speak Japanese in English characters in this game, at least from my experience. The only pro for regional servers is less latency to the server, cons are segregating the community, you have to play during prime time or you will get nothing done, less people to play with, not learning about other cultures (part I love)

EDIT: It is an issue for every different language, but the problem is more prevalent with Japanese as it is not that common for them to speak English French German and Spanish as apposed to people who live in Europe where multi-lingualism is pretty common.

Because nobody has a internet connection in their homes these days or a smartphone right?
*Edit*
I guess not being able to copy/paste is the only downside. But really google translate rarely gives accurate statements regardless.
