I don't want it to fail as much as you do, but i don't want another TOR.
This game needs CONTENT at release. Should it not manage this, casuals and other players will not bother with it a second time.

I have faith in Yoshi, he prolly knows more stuff about MMORPGs than the whole developement team.

I want 2.0 to fail? This is news to me... I'm fairly certain my shellmates can vouch for how much gushing I do over every little scrap of info.

I can see where you're coming from though.

    1. Please show your sources for your first figure, regarding "10k are left"

    2. Please show your sources indicating that the other "490k" (again, an arbitrary number), don't care about 1.0/2.0 anymore.

In my experience, everyone I know who started with 1.0 and left are definitely interested in 2.0. I also know people who had no interest in 1.0 who are interested in 2.0. That's about a dozen people or so, and that's just people I know of.

    3. Please show us the infallible crystal ball that allows you to see the game bombing, or people getting fired for it.

Oh you can't provide any of that because you're pulling all of that out of your rear?

    Well color me surprised.

for god sake paying subs we should got all those in-game.

i prefer word "idiot" for those saying "as long it's cosmetic, cash shop is okay"

I touched on this in another post last night. When you see people saying "as long as it's only cosmetic", what they're really saying is, "as long as it's nothing I would feel was necessary to buy, I'm okay with it".

Basically, they're okay if others have to spend more money to get stuff.. just as long as they don't.

The classic "not in my backyard!" mentality.

At the end of the day (even if it is only 1 day til next year) a person could and I stress could wide up spending 200 bucks, on it. Now say a person wants to make FFXIV: ARR their main game but they are turned off by P2P simple because it has the word "pay" in it, just doesn't see the full picture of it all.

    - 15 (at max) times 12= 180 bucks (Standard)

    - 13 times 12= 156 ( Entry).

When it comes to the bottom of it by the end of the year ( and this can vary from person to person) can spend just as much on a p2p game than on a f2p.

Like others have said and I agree with them, that each Model has their own thing going for them, which is fine I'm happy for both Genres getting the most out of them. but saying "No" to p2p simply the excuse is always because " well I have to pay"... well you pay for f2p too, you just don't realize till you spent 200 bucks on f2p things at a cash shop and wounder why your account is 200 bucks less :P.

I wish the best of luck for all MMOs out their, because each of them have their own unique way of showing things. What it truly boils down to is, Which MMO game is the greatest to play, and which MMO will be their "main" MMO. p2p/f2p/b2p aside, in the end you wide up paying the same amount every year.

This is how I view the f2p/b2p VS p2p my answer is: They are equal in strength, but the word "free" to play gives them the edge.
There are people already bragging - yes, bragging - about how they've spent $200 on GW2's cash shop already, and it's only in the first month.

Some of these same people scoff at the idea of paying a monthly sub on top of a box fee. Yet they're proud to have spent 13-months worth of sub fees in a game that doesn't even require it, and feel it's been well worth their investment. They might not even be still playing the game in 3 months time, nevermind 13.

Is it any wonder cash shops tend to do as well as they do?

    Again, flawed logic.

I see some things on the cash shop that I think look great and would like to have for my character. The only way to get them, though, is by pulling out the credit card and dropping $10-$20 on them. I can't justify that kind of extra expenditure due to my finances. There's no other way of obtaining those items in-game.

Seems my "choice" is made for me. I have to do without.

What kind of "choice" is that?

Having self-control or not has nothing to do with it. It's a complete red herring. The problem is with the idea of having to pay extra for items that could and should be obtainable in the game by playing it since we have already bought the game, and are already paying a monthly sub.

If you and others around here are so eager to throw more money at SE than you are, there are other ways you can do so that don't affect everyone else.

    1. Buy some merchandise - Tons of things you can buy on there. You're sending SE more money, and no one else has to deal with it. Even better, with actual physical merchandise, you'll still own and get to enjoy those items long after you've stopped playing XIV.

    2. Buy a couple more FFXIV accounts, activate them, but don't play them. Just pay the extra sub fee every month. This way you're sending them more money, but it's not affecting anyone else. Even better, get the game for a couple friends or family members and pay their subs for them. Now you're supporting SE and getting to play with friends/family of yours.

    3. Write them a check once a month for however much you'd like to "donate" and just mail it off to them, with the word "donation" written in the "reason" box.

    4. Buy some more of their games, both in-house and those they publish. If you don't like the games yourself, give them away as gifts, or keep them as collectibles.

There's just 4 suggestions, all of which allow you folks to support SE more, without forcing it on everyone else as well.

We've paid SE a box fee. We're paying them a subscription fee. We don't need to pay them anything else, especially for chunks of code that are already installed on our hard-drive.

Whatever you do, before you, or the OP come up with these brilliant ideas, stop and take a moment to think of all possible scenarios and how people may actually not benefit from such an idea. Don't only think of it in terms of how it would benefit you.

This isn't rocket science little boy. Everybody who knows at least a bit about the MMORPG business can see where this is going.

I'd rather earn them ingame, thank you very much. Plus, it would be more of a treat for them to add a BARBER SHOP to this game that costs gold, so they can continually add more hair options. You know, because we're paying for the game already. I always thought cash shops in p2p games were just plain cashgrabbing.
