    Environmental puzzles for 2.0?

My favorite aspect of MMO games is exploration! I absolutely love running through the world and seeing what it has to offer. However, I dislike exploring worlds that don't offer anything for explorers besides more quests and mobs to fight.

One thing I would love to see in 2.0 or post 2.0 would be environmental puzzles. I've played a several other MMO games that have small and large puzzles scattered through the world and add a depth to exploration. Since jumping won't effect combat in 2.0, perhaps jumping can be used for these puzzles so that the feature doesn't completely go to waste. An example I suppose would be a small mountain (8 stories tall?) that you can scale by running, jumping, taking small leaps of faith, etc. Once you reach the top, there could be a treasure chest waiting for you or perhaps some sort of special NM or something.

Other examples can be lava pits with a path of small rocks that lead to a chest, a long hallway with traps sprouting from the ground that can be avoided by jumping, a series of trees that can be scaled to reach the top of a giant tree...you get the idea.

Disregard this thread of puzzles of this sort were already confirmed to be included in 2.0

Hmm, jumping puzzles with treasure chests at the end... seems familiar...

    *goes back to leveling Necromancer*

And FYI, I am addicted to jumping puzzles.

one casual roleplaying game is enough. leave the jumping levels for crash bandicoot.
meep* jumping puzzles are "fun" maybe when you do it for your first time.

You have way too much hatred for anything that isn't XIV. Jumping puzzles are well loved by the hardcore (speed running) and casual gamers alike.

If the devs kept your mindset on what a rigid roleplaying game should be, we wouldn't even be getting 2.0

So yeah, I think jumping puzzles would be cool, they work in GW2.

i think they are just crappy compared to real jump and runs. if you say something different, then i am sorry for you..

and i personally dont want to have a GW2 clone.. and on the other hand it just doesnt fit final fantasy playstyle.. i dont like it. SE should make something different.. like FF golden saucer, like they have announced.. please dont copy&paste just everything..

its not about hatred... its JUST SO ANNOYING. everyone ones this and that... from MMO XY.. when you want jumping puzzles, just the f... stick to GW2. thank you.

the jump and run "puzzles" have much less quality than real jump and runs in my opinion. and a developer should stick with that, what they can..

they should make their OWN ideas.. if they want to attract new players.

Because that worked so well with 1.0.

There's nothing wrong with taking ideas from somewhere else, as long as they aren't copy-pasted in.

If it were up to you we'd have no auction house or swords.

Environmental puzzles are fun, jumping puzzles, hell no. They already said Jumping wouldn't have much use beyond the basics, no battle or other placement.

I usually play platformers when I want jumping puzzles.

Ironic because most FFXIV players lose their shit if you mention using something from FFXI and make changes to it, yet ignore that Crystal Tower is a direct location and concept from FFIII and Materia is a concept from FFVII and they're even adding in a 'Golden Saucer' which was a concept and location from FFVII and everyone is ok with.

I like the idea. Mostly, though, I want secret areas. And TONS OF THEM.
