And just because YOU'RE satisfied, doesnt mean everyone else is.Just because YOURE dissatisfied, doesnt mean everyone else is.
I am not accepting jumping in FFXIV - I'm embracing it and I cannot wait for it to be released. Its happening, they have evaluated the cost and SPENT THE MONEY on jumping. IT IS COMING.....
(.............I will give you some time to grieve.......times up).
Now you have moved on you can come with the rest of us and be IMMERSED in the REALITY of being able to jump.
Im jumping right now, come, its fun !
Don't act all "Haw haw sux 2 b u" about it.

How exactly is it sharing when you want one side to clearly dominate?
"I don't mind if jumping is in, it just needs to be completely restricted because I disagree with it."
What about the other persons feelings on the subject? I want to have crazy, over the top stuff...such as giant explosions, awesome dancing, hilarious outfits, cool vehicles, etc. I can't have these things, which is totally unfair! Other games did it...why can't this one?
TOTALLY
UNFAIR

I just want it to look better dude. How exactly is it sharing when you want one side to clearly dominate?

Believe me, I want the best for this game. I just realize that there are some things I won't like. I don't let them get to me though, because stuff like that is so minor, it doesn't matter in the long run. If the bad things outweighed the good things, I wouldn't play this!
If you don't like how the jumping looks, don't do it! Don't let someone else jumping ruin your fun time either. Everything seems to follow the same pattern when it comes to this game (Ifrit weapons were shown, everyone hated them, then they got over it and everything was fine). Everyone needs to just take a deep breath and wait for the game to actually come out before grabbing the pitchforks and torches.

Actually most of the comparisons to jumping here bear no relevance to the issue of realism.
Honestly I think people just want jump because other games have jump. The fact that XI had no jump and its community did fine, or people played the game for 10 years with not being able to jump never changing an inch of the experience should be brought to the table. Games can work with jump, and can work without it. It's a choice. But if you are going to implement it, I think you really should do it right, try to fit the experience with the current feel of the game. And the current game should not allow for spammable jumps, nor jumps that look dumb, straight out of the generic mmo FF isn't.
Running around, emoting, talking, whatever annoying thing you have as argument to jumping being just another one in fact doesn't work, simply because jumping is an effort beyond any of those, and an irrelevant one at that. No one needs to jump in XIV. You do need to talk, move, take out your weapon. (with the exception of emotes, which you don't really need). Try jumping while running 500 m somewhere. You just can't do it. It doesn't feel right. And the fact that there isn't a smooth animation when you land, or any delay only makes it worse. Sure, you're a fucking dragoon, you're a super hero who can defeat behemoths and save the world. It won't change the fact that jumping around will just make it unrealistic.
Leave the fantasy where it is needed, like fighting monsters and casting spells. FF is a very realistic fantasy game, and it should remain that way if it wants to be set apart from other mmos.
I wonder if your memory is just bad or you're remembering what you want to remember. This is the same Final Fantasy series where you play underwater soccer. The same series where you slash at somebody 20 times (with a couple jumps tossed in there) when you reach your limit. The same series where you SUPLEX A TRAIN. Yeah.Actually most of the comparisons to jumping here bear no relevance to the issue of realism.
