I'm a career FFXIV player, I have no interest in other games.

I see, so if FFXIV goes free to play you will be jumping ship? I think not, it sounds very hipster.

I would like to point something out to you, World of Warcraft, ever heard of it? That's right, the leader of the industry in MMO's isn't a free to play game, so all of these titles you're throwing out there to support your own opinion seem just like a desperate attempt at trying to win a loosing argument.

There are a few reasons why WoW is Pay to Play and that's because of its age, its polish and the fact it allowed millions of people to play it with a massive variety of different systems when it first started. It really kick started just how serious MMO's could be for generating cash, it was the first to really make a stamp on the world. It doesn't need to adopt F2P because it generates enough to sustain itself 3 times over.

Are you seriously suggesting FFXIV is on par with that kind of subscription base? I hate to break it to you, they don't do a mass overhaul of successful games because they felt like it. If 2.0 fails to bring in the players, then it will have to be F2P or shut off. FFXI didn't have this trouble because it had way more subscribers.
