    I will say I wish there was a better way to understand which materia you're aiming for when changing items into materia. Because spending as much time as I just did, to break down a lvl49 lance, into a strength 2 materia.. is a serious kick in the balls SE, I mean really. lol

    Yay, another thread full of FF7 fanboys crying to have this turned into FF7...

    If anything, the materia system was a thousand times more annoying than gear swapping was in XI. Not that I found the latter actually that annoying.

    Just remembering how long it could take to swap around materia for certain situations/battles gives makes my head hurt.

    Not a bad idea. Another suggestion might be to keep something like the current system, but open up materia melding on jewelry and put the debuff resist stuff on that.

    Or use the OP's system for artifact and other unique equipment so that we can customize those pieces as well.

    Crazy idea: Gear has only 1 basic stat set towards the target class (could have none at all too) and the rest of it is made up entierly with materias (at least 4 slots per item) with a reasonable meld chance and no source item loss if it fails. Then the materia conbining idea could be stacked on it.

    Don't tamper with a good system. I like the materia system. my only issue with it is how many gear slots are very limited on what you can put on them, and accessories can never have materia slots.

    I accept and respect the item loss on faliure, it's one of the things that keep's the games economy going right now.

Materias can only be obtained from a specific gear or weapon or even monsters and HNM that would max a player lets say 50+ STR materia or Store TP+30 and Attack power+50

    The thing that is over frustrating is trying to double meld a for a relic "Savage might" for drg is over expensive and not to mention that its rare as hell , or trying to Triple meld a set of gear to Max out ur character.

    So good sir would you rather have a PIMP!! Materia that can drop from an HNM or weapon etc or trying to triple and double meld and waste ur gil on a luck based factor where some lucky SOB "sorry for that word" can get it triple or double meld 1/1 while u attempted 1/12 or even more.

    am not glorifying VII or anything too i feel over frustrated over this game luck based factors which are so many that even people complain about it

    there's a lot of dumb in this thread. they don't want gearswapping, why would they allow us to do whats' effectively the same thing via swapping materia. it ain't gonna happen, and shouldn't because the whole battle system would need to be rebalanced agin.
