From what I've seen Dev estimates are never true. Even so, 30 hours isn't very long when you take into account that this is a MMORPG and is meant to take time.

To be specific he said the tutorial would conclude at around level 15, which would take about 30 hours to get through.

That is pretty slow.... This just in, someone maxed out their GW2 character (lv. 80) in 32 hours.

Before anyone gets too crazy:

Level 80 is always something to celebrate, but be aware that this was not through normal leveling. A few users have made us aware of unusual ways to level very fast. We're fixing these issues as I type.
