Target window is also usefull... easier to swap targets or between foes and friends.
Today I had another targeting issue... Oh god I want targeting windows!!!! Lol
I don't see why they couldn't add targeting lines as an optional feature. I could definitely see it being quite useful in some battle situations. Same with the targeting window.
FFXII has some things going for it that I'd like to see here.
For example, if you look at combat videos what strikes me as an advantage this game could make use of is how the animations are fast, sharp, and movement is fluid. While you still stop to sheath and unsheath your weapon, as well as to perform animations, they go off fast and there is very little "filler" in them. I certainly like that aspect of the combat.
As for the rest of the combat system, it has an auto-attack feature I think? I can't recall. You may be on to something here as far as the upcoming changes go. Targeting window seems interesting.
Yeah, it has an auto-attack feature, and more... after casting a magick or using an item it returns automaticaly to auto-attack. That is why I think this battle system would be great for FFXIV, plus the fact of having targeting lines and targeting windows (very helpfull if you have to heal a party member [they usually end up dying with the current targeting system lol]).FFXII has some things going for it that I'd like to see here.

How anyone could like XII's battle system is beyond me. The animations looked cool, but that was about it. It was so boring and simple it makes XIV look like Eve online. Easily the worst FF game I've ever played. It is honestly the only game I have ever gottin 90% through and just quit from being bored. I didn't even care how the story ended at that point. In fact, if I didn't know any better I would think the "fans" they made XIV for were the same ones that they made XII for.
I would not want it in XIV. Combat is already easy enough as is. Keeping it easy would just make matters worse.
Sorry but I must disagree... The most boring battle system is the one from FFX, which contains no new things (besides party switching). How anyone could like XII's battle system is beyond me. FFXII battle system is great and the story is fabulous (no wonder he had a very very good review). FFXII is the only one from PS2 that I enjoy replay. Its big, entertainning and has lots of things to do (beside the liberty given to players). I've walkedthrough FFXII 3 times (now I'm in the forth), since it came out, FFX two times and FFX-2 one time.
I respect the fact that you like classical battle system (I love FFVII, VIII and IX) but saying that FFXII is bad, well... maybe its because that one wasn't for you... (like FFX-2 wasn't for me).
I'm pretty sure a lot of people playing FFXIV already have gambit systems. At least they do until they're banned for botting.
