As long as the dungeons have a good "challenge/reward" ratio I'm all for it, but if we are going to "waste" 2 hours in a dungeon to get 1 earth shard and a spool of silk then no, fuck that. (Reminds me of those failed Kirin runs in FFXI >.< )

A million times yes this. Thank you, devs. <3 (Although it's not the idea of short raids that bothers me - I love them! - but rather, the idea of speedruns as a mechanic. By all means do things as efficiently as possible, but to have drops locked completely to speedrun is... absurd.)
7UP!

Second best thing being added in A Realm Reborn.
It'd be the first, but the Black Shroud being destroyed will forever be #1!

This is good news, I just hope we can still obtain Darklight gear once 2.0 has launched!

Speed-runs be gone! Yaaay!
Now I hope they add cool new dungeons and bosses to fight in them. Oh, and why don't primals have their own dungeons? Wouldn't that also be cool?

Look at the FFXI Home Points, then look at the FFXII Save Crystals, then look at the Aetheryte. See something? The "Home Point" concept already serves as a sort of Save Point in that it allows you to return somewhere nearby instead of all the way back to town.
As far as saving progress in XI, you see it in things like Limbus, Nyzul, and some other things where once you reach a certain point you can pick it up later. XIV has it where within the same run the monsters will stay dead (except if you screw up the ant puzzle in CC) and you can prance your way back to your party if necessary.

Excellent post! I agree wholeheartedly. I only did a few speed runs, but I didn't like them. I don't enjoy feeling rushed and hurried in real life, and I don't like having that feeling constantly during a speed run either.
Also, this?
So much awesome. <3Yeah, our instanced raids will have many different settings where you have to go through in order to make it to the final boss.

More reasonable options within the boundaries of the game world?
Good.
