Speed runs don't feel rushed once you've done it 100 times. It becomes the new standard and you don't really know how to do it any other way after that.

I agree that they "encourage" class stacking, but that's not a byproduct of speed runs. It's an issue inherent to the class system and combat design.

I for one will miss the speed runs, and not because they lessen fear availibilty (couldn't care less about that), but because I've always enjoyed time trials, and the synergy they require within the group.

Exactly!! All speed runs did was add some form of challenge to content and give people something else to work towards. 90% of the people who whined about speeds just whined cause they weren't good enough to to do them or in an ls that wasn't good enough to do them. Flame away but it's true.

Huh, challenge? Yeah, I may understand that doing a “Time Trial” could pose a challenge for certain adventurers. Sure, do it once, twice, 10 times... but, c'mon, after doing it hundred times, same Jobs and same strategy, don't tell me it's still enjoyable.
This is what the Speed Runs are.

And about the “not being good enough to do them”... Well, personally speaking I would have surely tried... if I could. My Job of Monk is automatically left out of the Speed Runs, it's simply not fast enough.
But I'm sure that even if I could participate in this “content”, being an adventurer who likes to do things with no hurry, and considering it required to be spammed, I wouldn't have liked it one bit.

[By the way, this trend of spamming contents should just go as well. Hamlet Defense is another example of wasted content with a good potential... but OK, that's another matter.]

I'd consider the dungeons challenging if they're actually hard to get through, places where you can go in as your favourite Job. Strong monsters, different routes... I could stay here and list all the improvements they could introduce, but with Yoshida's promises I've faith that this time they won't disappoint.

The people on these forums make my head hurt. First, don't talk about how speed runs aren't challenging when you haven't done them. "I'd consider the dungeons challenging if they're actually hard to get through" you haven't even completed av or cc let alone done speed runs on them yet you will sit on here and bitch about them like you know what you are talking about. "My Job of Monk is automatically left out of the Speed Runs, it's simply not fast enough." so speed runs are bad cause you are forced into playing specific jobs(not really true) yet at the same time you only play one job lol?? You should spend less time making qq post about stuff you don't know about and more time actually playing the game.

Speed runs are not going any where. There just no longer going to force players to do them to get access to a portion of the dungeons total loot pool. There is a big difference there

So glad to hear about speedruns is going away.
Every time I was invited to any dungeons, it was always speedruns. And I find it way more fun when the whole group can breathe sometimes, strategize before rushing for next boss constantly and never ever do a mistake.

    GO YOSHIDA ^^

shhh, the better players might hear you and lable you as "not good enough" god forbid we actually ENJOY the content. Sure keep the achivements , it is noteable to say, "hey I just ran CC in 17 minutes" but beyond that, whats the point? make someones e-peen larger? Newsflash, a few updates from now , when we have more , better, gear options, that acomplishment is going to become a cake walk, just like every other content in the game. So save the elitest BS banter. Grats on the speed runs but supporting your alter ego is not justification for keeping speed runs as a way to set dificulty, there is no skill in oping gear and spaming an event till you have memorized every nuk and cranny of the dungeon. Learn how to keep hate without "300 enmity" as a party and down a mob harder then your used to, thats skill.

I have nothing against doing a speedrun to get the achievements etc. But my main interest is to have fun with the party/friends I am with. Theres no time to enjoy their company when its just a mad dash to the finishline.

I used to raid heroic 25mans in WOW for 4 years. I gave up WOW after defeating Heroic Ragnaros before the nerf And I actually got tired of it in the end. Always going for BiS items, gemming the same stats constantly.

    And hello fellow Sargatanian ^^

I'm very happy to read this too! And don't forget about the relic weapons quest items at the dungeons. ^^

This is what made Nyzul perfect in XI, it had varying objectives as you climbed the floors though some can repeat (i.e kill all can repeat 5+ times given it's random lol)..Uncharted on the other hand though..

This is why a lot of people say SE needs to look back at XI for certain concepts -- Nyzul, Limbus, Einherjar and Voidwatch are great styles of content the only problem VW has is the reward system, however the execution is great -- everyone can partake in it and everyone has a place for that content unlike current FFXIV raids, where most want to stack BLMs for everything, even on content where other setups work better.

Speedruns are perfect when used as an optional component, not a requirement -- they did however have to make content last forever since you can spam it every 5-15 minutes regardless so speed running is just another layer of completion needed.
