Also, while I can't speak for all wow and ffxiv players.. I'm sure most people can play much better when their screen is 3/4ths full of parsers, timers, and other programs that do not come with the game.

The two companies have different approaches to this, and it affects their design appropriately.

It's pretty obvious that some people like to think they played XI and didn't.

Maybe if you consider limbus and dynamis "endgame". I really doubt any of you had D rings or relics.
*raises hand* LS with DRings and Relics. Dynamis and Limbus were a joke. Killing KB 100 times for a DRing was a joke. Killing Tiamat X amount of times for 40 Heralds Gaiters was a joke.

I did every bit of end game that FFXI had to offer halfway into WoTG and not much of it could be considered difficult. Not anywhere near as difficult as the stuff I encountered in WoW at the same time.

And to Jeronlmo... Your iLvL is just barely above that of being allowed into Random Raid Finder. Meaning you're basing your opinion of WoW Cataclysms (albeit easiest of all expansions) endgame on content that is tuned down for people that don't have time to raid with a serious guild. Nice job you sure showed us.

World of warcraft wasn't easy until WOTLK. AQ40, Naxx40, Black Temple, Hyjal, Sunwell Plateau, Serpentshrine Cavern. Ulduar was a shiny piece of grace in WOTLK in HEROIC, second only to HEROIC Lich King.

A lot of that content can run rings around FFXI endgame in it's day, heck pre-nerf C'THUN & M'URU say hello. Although each do have hard content they also have easy as pie content, nether compare to DAoC or Everquest pre-planes of power.

I have heard good things about HEROIC Ragnos but I stopped playing at the start of CATA.

Hard Mode Ulduar was without a doubt the pinnacle of raiding in WoW. I don't think anything else came close. ;o

Pre-patch SSC and TK were very well tuned and were pretty much the only fights I liked until Ulduar. Though Illidan was "decent".

I don't want WoW, Everquest, or any other MMO out there. I want Final Fantasy XIV, and if it can't offer that unique fresh experience they will fail no matter what they do to 2.0

How can people keep using the Argument that WoWs content was so much harder than FFXIs until it was nerfed and then compare it to nerfed FFXI content? Your logic astounds me..

FFXIV was a unique fresh experience, and as we all saw being a unique little snowflake in every way isn't always a good idea. There are reasons other games are popular, and while you don't need to copy their ideas 100% you can certainly build upon and adapt them and still be successful without just being another "clone".

i just want to point out that most of the people i see calling WoW easy and FFXI hard(er) still struggle with junk like garuda. and most of the people i see calling FFXI easy and WoW hard(er) have absolutely no problem with stuff like garuda.

there are exceptions, of course, but this seems fairly common.

kinda weird, right? i'll just let you all sit and think about that for a bit.

Same people also had issues with Ifrit at first because they couldn't understand the one rule of every MMO after WoW "If you didn't put it on the ground - don't stand on it" or better known as "Don't stand in fire."

Hardcore WoW raiders were better skilled players than hardcore FFXI players just because they could adapt quickly from constantly changing/evolving battle mechanics that made boss fights fun and difficult. FFXI players never really deviated far from tank and spank or kite. This isn't an opinion it's just the reality of the situation. No need to feel offended.
