So I'm not allowed to have an opinion on the existence of a feature or lack thereof if it "doesn't affect me" in your subjective opinion? OK. So what you're saying is that only arguments for filtering out jump are allowed. Nobody is allowed to speak against it, because it "wouldn't affect them because they wouldn't use it."

There is no logical means of implementing this. The server has to literally lie about the player's current position in order for this to happen. I was pointing out the fact that masking people jumping breaks immersion just as much as not masking it. By the only concieveable means of implementing it, immersion (the reason most people give when complaining about this) is broken by players appearing to perform physically impossible movements.

It's not practical to filter out every little thing that bothers a person. I could post to SE and say "it bothers me when people stand around in town." Should SE add an option to make all idle players invisible? SE has better things they could invest their time in.

It's easy to say "they should add an option for <stuff>, because adding options seems like win-win. However, every option added has a development cost. the number of options for various things that they could add to the game is endless- it has to stop somewhere or we won't get content because they're too busy adding every little option to turn off <insert thing here> that <insert person here> doesn't like.

People should just accept that jump is in the game and if they don't like people who jump a lot, then they should simply not associate with such people. Kick them from every party and ignore their tells or block list them. If they annoy you, they don't deserve your time.

Not once did I say that your opinion doesn't matter, but I am trying to point out that it won't bother you in the least if something like it was implemented, hypothetically speaking. I'm asking why it would bother you if it was there. You don't see people using it, you're not made ill by its implementation.

It's like saying, "if you don't like it, don't use it", but unlike jumping, you can't even tell if others are using it.

A possible way for it to work would be to visually subtract the Y position of the character from its hitbox with the ground as a buffer and play a running animation through it if the subject moves ZX and have it work like walking over cliffs work in 1.0. It's not rocket science...well, okay it's still a science, but it's not too hard to come up with solutions if it's cleanly coded. I flat out refuse to believe something like that would cut harshly into development time and cost that it would significantly damage the development of other features, especially with a development team of that size.

I think it's worth implementing. Jump spam is a big issue for a lot of people. Pretty much every time I talk about MMO's to people, jump spam comes up, especially when it serves little to no practical use other than to "making travel more interesting".

Heck, I'd modify DAT file for the animation myself if that wasn't against the rules.

But please don't think I was trying to stifle your view, I was just trying to challenge it. Sometimes I forget I lose vocal tone when just typing.

You know Rokien hates it even more than I do...I think.

I'd be fine with it if it was needed.

There was no real point of implementing this. It was literally made to make the player feel "unattached to the ground".

It's not practical to implement every little thing that makes a person feel dynamic just for the sake of it. I could post to SE and say "I don't like how I'm so upright" Should SE add an option to slouch or crawl? SE has better things they could invest their time in.

I'm saving him for if I ever feel the need to make a comic about the XIV forums in general.

Really though. If I'm being realistic, my cries for annoying and mostly pointless features to be hidden from my sight will be ignored and I'll just be forced live with it in mild contempt as each jump scratches a tiny permanent line into my mental composure.

But that doesn't mean I can't try to get things my way when the opportunity arises huh?

***Jump jump jump, all day long! Jump jump jump while I sing this song!
Gonna leave the ground, gonna go so far, gonna take off flying with spa-ace bar!***

Oh, what's that? Sorry, couldn't hear you over the amount of jumping I'll be doing. ^_^
