Because you know, when they developed GW2 the entire platforming thing was part of the concept, so it was implemented in it's creation.
It seems to me like XIV won't have platforming as part of the concept, implementing it would cause all sorts of issues. Mostly due to the controls being unsuited for that effect.

After watching the gameplay video the controls and movement for ARR seem carbon copy of the mmo "standards," WoW, Rift, GW2 being examples of that standard.Nope, GW2 actually agrees with her assesment.

You have a point though. Games not created from the base up with jumping mechanics in mind should probably not try and shove them into their game as an after thought. My impression though is that ARR is a game re-built from the ground up. The jumping in the video doesn't seem tacked on at all.
