Maybe you should pay attention to the front page of the lodestone.

In OP's defense, the quest giver was in a different spot and not his normal spot trolling my afk corner, but regardless, should have questioned the entire server spamming /firedance and would have realized something was up.

You really didn't miss much. I just went on, got the red yutaka, and went on my merry way. Hmm? Risk my life on some bomb-ombs? Too busy saving the damn world.

As a side note, I see a lot of people saying, "Check the website, duh!", but having to rely heavily on an external site for in-game information is a dated concept (oh, I'll get flamed for that I'm sure - I'm just making an observation, really!).

As an example, in Rift, upon the start of a major World Event, a notification appears in your quest log on the right of your screen, and you're free to remove and stop tracking it. This notification points you in the right direction to get it started; additionally, you get a message in your mailbox from a lore-important NPC who gives you some of the background (that is, it shows all of the same info the Lodestone does, but in-game, and partly via actual communication with notable figures!). It does a bit for immersion too, if you're into that sort of thing.

Any lesser events (bonus or free weekends, temporary dungeon reward increases, etcetera) have a pop-up window upon the first login on a character during that event, and meanwhile any upcoming developer events (Livestreams, GM and dev Q&As, PTS events) pop up in your chat log a few minutes before they begin.

Not an attack by any means, simply would be a nice thing for SE to look into in the future. Whether or not it's reasonable OP didn't catch this event till the end, I'm sure we can all admit there are always ways for things to evolve or be done better!

Hmmm, talk to people in-game? Open your eyes and see the people wearing Yutakas EVERYWHERE? Listen to the music in town? what more do you want in game, a huge freaking sign when you log in that says "hey there's a festival, dumb-ass?"

how do people miss this stuff? it's practically inescapable in-game.

and sorry, due to lack of sleep, I can't be bothered with pleasantries.

Sure, I gave an example above of how it can work. We have announcements on the Lodestone, why not simply move them as in-game messages you can optionally turn off after the initial notification? As much information as possible should be within the game and the game world itself.

I'm not trying to excuse OP, far from, just trying to say, we should always be open to the concept of improving a system as no system is ever perfect, even if we disagree on the specifics.
