Removal of Surnames

Seems kinda silly to like something that is an invonvenience. Still think optional or removal is the best option. I still do not understand why people say it alows for multipules of the same name sure it does but its called being more original. If people were more original there would never be a problem with copies of the same name.

is FAR more of an inconvenience than a few extra characters for tells will ever be (which I don't consider an inconvenience at all, to be honest). Also, there is NOTHING about having a single name that is more original that our current system. I have no idea where you're pulling that from.

People don't seem to realize this... I guess they prefer Xxx______xxx. Yet you hear screams for immersion in other threads lol. Why complain when you can have the name you wanted FINALLY in a MMO. There is no need for a toggle option either so just leave it be. If you care so much about sending tells then suggest a /sea function and stop complaining about one of the few good things this game has...

This thread should be deleted. Tons of people will have retarded names with or without a surname. So many Cloud of Sephiroth variations without surnames and now honestly out of the current players I don't know a single person with Cloud of Sephiroth in their name anyways! Sure there are some other one but some people just lack creativity. Personally I love having a surname because before FFXI came out I thought it was going to have surnames and I come up with this name then. (cept my name normally has 2 R's and because I used a different account for beta my name got saved and taken)

I think they should give you one blank to write your name, and you should be allowed to have a 'space' in there to make two names if desired.

Meaning I'm in favor of having both options available for 1 and 2 word names.

The only real downside of the surnames is that the coding used when an NPC interacts with you has the NPC recite your complete name every time. At least based off what I've seen so far. Would probably be better if NPCs were programmed to use only your first name. Either is still echelons above the NPC just saying "adventurer" when referring to you.

Easy, not enough pills/too many :P. Also I wouldn't mind an option to toggle last names off. I don't think it would hurt anyone seeing multiple Zahak's running around. Could always /check or target to see what the last name is.

As for tells, SE just needs to add in a search system that can actually search peoples names. Unless they have already, have not checked in a while! OR be able to use the tab button like the auto chat feature and cycle through your friends names.

This is one of those things about vanilla FFXIV (that's what I'm calling pre-Yoshida), that was cool and is still cool. Trying to find a name for a new character in FFXI and EQ2 is a nightmare, do not want it again.

BTW demanding that people be more original it's just as bad as not wanting to type in a longer name. Cry me a river.

If people were more creative with there names making names would be alot easier. People who do Xxx_____xxX . Seems people want to see a million people with the name cloud because is original and creative.
