im up for this
im up for this
I'm all up for collection quests if they make traveling easier, Chocobo please.
Being a big fan of exploration, I can only support this idea! Not only will this make exploration even more enjoyable, it could go well with a redesign of some areas of the map to break monotony.I was thinking just now about the FF11 'clay quest' in which you had to find all the rock shafts around the world that gave you the knowledge about that famous explorer (and vanadiel lore).
It would be awesome to have some sort of things to do in Eorzea, to incentivate the exploration and to have something to collect around. Some ideas:
- can find some ancient reliquies scattered around the world, in every corner. These kind of reliquies will teach you more lore about Eorzea and maybe some could give you some particular magic effects or some sort of bonuses.
- if they'll add a card game, you can collect all the cards, finding them around the world, winning them by players or killing some particular enemies (human and beast tribe ones).
- can find pages or texts in buildings, temples, ruins, etc. in which there could be some descriptions of monsters with its art, strong points, habitat and so on. A sort of Monster Encyclopedia to collect. You could use that page (as item) during a fight with that particular enemy to have a little bonus against it.
- can catch unique fishes (not used in cooking) around the world to put them in an acquarium (in your house or in your istanced room -Inn?-).
I think these kind of things would be nice to have in a game like this and fun imo. Hope you can contribuite with many more ideas about it![]()
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)

About the monster encyclopedia, there was another poster that suggested a bestiary you filled out upon killing mobs, I would really like to see that and i'm guessing your meaning the same thing. Anything to further add lore is welcome in my book, good idea.
We desperately need more stuff to do.
TRIPLE TRIAD YES PLEASE.
Just like in FF8 where you can run around and challenge NPCs. Also let me learn "Monster Card" so I can farm cards.
Let me put an icon above my head that says I want to take on all challengers.
Let anyone who wants to observe a match in progress.
Let there be two types of PvP matches just like in online mode in Street Fighter 4: Normal Match: which is like a friendly game, and Ranked Match, which lets people battle for rank points.
Create a server wide leaderboard to see who is the best card master
Hold tournaments for cool prizes.
Let participants of matches bet (items, gil, cards, etc) over the outcome of the match.
Put in a whole crapload of cards, and watch the OCD playerbase swarm in.
Keep the rules SIMPLE yet allow for high level play. Triple Triad was good at this. Tetra Master was a clusterfark of confusing hexadecimel letters and numbers.
This would add in solo content, as well as PvP content at the same time, give people more things to do, and add loads of entertainment value to this game.
Part of the excitement would be to venture out to the boonies and find NPC who have rare cards and try to beat them.
100k new subscriptions guaranteed.Triple Triad could also be a decent gil sink.
Have card shops in all 3 cities. Each shop sells starter packs and booster packs that feature NPCs and monsters from that region.
Starter Pack 1: 5,000 gil - Contains 10 random low level cards, and one random medium level card.
Booster Pack 1: 50,000 gil - Contains 5 random low to medium-high level cards.
Booster Pack 2: 150,000 gil - Contains 5 random medium to medium-high level cards, with a chance for 1-2 of them being high level cards.
The best cards have to be "Monster Carded" from high rank mobs, or won from a high rank NPC, or as tournament prizes.Exactly - the main type of addictive nature RPGs have is to cater to our OCD senses as gamers.
Give us things to collect, things to level up, things to customize, and we'll go crazy over it. Add in the social aspect of an MMO, and the ability for people to compete with each other and show off their achievements, and it gets very addictive.
Give the player a "scan" ability to scan every mob and build a "pokedex" of all the mobs, their traits, and their spawn points. The more complete your list is, the more you get rewarded somehow - BAM exploring is awesome.
Give the retainers the ability to level up based on how much they sold, or whatever to increase item capacity and achieve more tax reductions - BAM retainers are awesome
Implement Chocobo Breeding, let us breed our own personal chocobo with stats and everything, make it hands on and skill based. Let us craft cool armor and accessories to put on our personal chocobo and let us ride it and race it if we want to, like those addictive SEGA horse racing games. Let our Chocobo level up according to its abilities - BAM chocobos are awesome
Implement Beastmaster and monster battles
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ll=1#post11130
Give it an additional ability to catch and train monsters just like Pokemon. Then, let them battle other players, or other beastmasters' pets in the Uldah coliseum like in Dragon Quest 8.
let the player customize and tweak the enemy AI and behavior patterns and keep a ranking to see who has the most wins. Let the player set aside a player-determined amount of money as a reward, and then set an entrance fee that other players can pay to fight the custom pet. - BAM exploring the world and interacting with it and alternative forms of PvP is awesome
I remember that quest. It was difficult and I struggled but I loved it
So posting about ideas about what kind of collectibles would be feasible and awesome to implement doesn't help a thread that asks in the title, "What about something to find and collect through Eorzea? "
Okay.
Exampled like the Selbina Clay quest, which offered lore of the areas and forced you to explore offshoot paths in the world, I think is more the point, like getting people out there to explore which you find collectables etc.
ya...... the quest was horrific. And you HAD to do it for a map. i did the clay quest so many times. I didn't mind the collection part just the fact I had to do it, and its not like you brough all the clays you had to go back and forth. I don't mind exploring and finding lore. Just not the way that quest was set up.
Manaclippers and the ferries around carpenters landing did have some lore to it also. Which is why I like tours. Pay a fee and a guide tells you about the location.
