Except this is an MMO. Different standards than single-player games.
The only point you made in this post is that you either didn't read Harry Potter or that you're incapable of understanding it.
To take that a step further, did you feel compelled to read the Silmarillion before Lord of the Rings, just so you knew the entire thousands year history leading up to it?Umm, why? 7th UE is a prequel to the main story. It's the base that leads to the story that 2.0 is continuing.
I didn't need to read the hobbit to read the Lord of the Rings saga. I didn't need to read The Magician's Nephew to read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Why? This is because the roots of a story don't require as much detail as the story itself.

I clearly said not -everyone- does. But a lot of people do. And you can see it clearly on steam. When a new game is coming out (ex. mass effect 3) the month before and after it see a huge increase in sales of 1 and 2.
Mew!

Mass Effect allows you to transfer your character and choices which can effect other events in the sequels (not really, but that's what's advertised), so that is a completely unfair comparison.

I love how OP picks at arguments that are comepletely opinion based and avoids facts.
And when he does try to list facts he doesn't show any proof for it at all other than personal testimony and anyone else who gives personal testimony is wrong.
