The game was incomplete at release, that is a fact, it is not an opinion, it was a failure, that is also a fact, not an opinion, how then if a reviewer say's it was incomplete and utter garbage, is called badmouthing ? Did SE not steeped forth and acknowledge it also ? So wait wait, reviewers said it was bad, 90% of the game initial population left because it was bad, and the company that developed the game admit it was bad.... Yet if you say it was bad that is badmouthing it ?

There is nothing on those reviews that is unprofessional, they dint lie, they dint hide any facts, they stated the truth, plain and simple, get over it.

Video game reviewers really do have no integrity. You know how easy it is to apply to be a game reviewer at some of those sites? You just send them some examples of your work and then commit to a quota of articles every week/month. And Viola! You are now the official spokesperson for a site with no journalistic merit.

The game was flawed at release, but Nero is right to say that the reviewers did not do their job in explaining the systems. After all, there are many different philosophies on what constitutes good gameplay, so just because one person hates something then that doesn't mean everyone in the whole world will hate it too. It's arrogant to think the same rules apply for everyone. For that reason when you are a reviewer you have to consider the audience before your own personal judgments.

A lot of reviewers felt burned and this prevented them from reviewing it fairly. The overall score might be fair, but you can't go into a review feeling vindictive and vengeful. It's clear from some of the reviews that this is how reviewers approached things.

So even if there are few badly written reviews I think it's a bit of a strech to imagine there was some conspiracy to downvote XIV accross the media. There are 26 reviews on metacritic from around the globe. They're people just like you but unlike you they mostly did not care for XIV. It's still okay to like this game as is but to argue against the public opinipn is sort of pointless. Especially since you are in no way held responsible for the quality of the product.

Also public opinion does not equal your nor mine so it's okay to feel differently about these things. I get it though we want our likes and disliles to be echoed by the community it makes us feel like we belong.

I'll reveal few stupid bad games that I like even though I'd never recommend them to anyone:
Sengoku Basara ps3 Final Fantasy Fables Chocobo's Dungeon. Both really flawed games but to me really enjoyable sometimes.

Some reviews liked aspects that I love but majority of them are not in favor of these titles and rightly so.
As an MMO public opinion does matter including but not limited to the reviewers.
Without people who love and pay for xiv the game will die.

I'm rambling here but you get my point I hope. We feel passionate about the games we like but let's not direct that passion as negative feelings towards those who don't share our love for all things Final Fantasy.

Let's not forget the accusations of "the only reason this game got rated poorly was because Square-Enix decided not to stoop so low as to bribe the reviewers for a good score" that we heard at launch.

Yes, we did. Some of the regulars who still post on this forum today said such things back then.

I might have had unrealistic hopes for this trailer but personally to me it sort of didn't have the emotional impact that previous trailers like the XIV release trailer managed to have.

As I'm not a director it's hard to pinpoint what it is but my guess is that music and footage combined with so fast paced editing made it hard to make out what the theme is or where all this is happening.

The only establishing shot in the very end was the most exciting bit to me. Again I know I'm biased as I waited for this trailer for so long that my hopes were probably unrealistic.

The trailer did what it was meant to do, it teased. the rest of the information is coming at gamescon. Also, the old reviews were not biased, they were speaking the truth. At launch this game was a joke. Part of reviewing a game is giving your overall impression of the game, if that impression Is telling you that you shouldn't try it, then it's there for a reason, and these reviewers did mention very good reasons- horrible UI, Delays, no direction, poor game design, etc. I have high hopes and expectations for 2.0. All we can do now is wait for this boat to finally sail.
