Oh, the "no life" argument. How pathetic you are to use that argument.
How many people here do you think you just insulted for having 3 hours of the day to play an online video game? I think if you don't have 3 hours in the day to have some fun then YOU are the one without a life.
Seriously I didn't even bother reading the rest of your post it's probably bullshit anyway, given that little comment.

People will still have access to the beginning of the main storyline. The 7th Umbral stuff is strictly for players who stayed through 1.0.

Completion of the 7th Umbral content is completely irrelevant to the main story of 2.0. Therefore, nobody is being put off of 2.0 by not beating 1.0.

The 7th umbral stuff is kind of what leads to 2.0 and why 2.0 is occurring, so it is quite a bit more relevant than the main story.

    Except it's still irrelevant.

In FFXI, for example, there was a whole Crystal War that occurred before the main story, yet you didn't even get to touch that until several expansions later, even though it was a prominent part of the main storyline.

Same thing here. You don't have to have participated in the calamity that occurred prior just to enjoy the main storyline.

You don't need to know mass effect 1 to play mass effect 2 either, but most people who got mass effect 2 beat mass effect 1 first, even if it was just a few weeks before.

People generally don't like being "out of the loop."

Sure, some people will be fine with it. But a lot of people will think "I don't really want to join a game where i can't even experience the first part of a story"

Are you part of the 2.0 development team? No?

Then how do you know how the storyline is even being structured? Is it not possible that the 2.0. storyline will be designed in such a way for new players to understand what has happened?

In fact, it HAS to be designed that way, since 2.0 is going to be the point in which all new players will start.

mass effect 2 and dragon age 2 were designed like that as well, so ppl could pick up from the second. Most people still want to play the first. That's the norm with all videogames, movies and books. How many people do you know that started reading harry potter from book 3?

Finished the fight last night. Took a few tries but I blame the plague of disconnects and my PC overheating on most of the tries. Once we knew his moves it was pretty straightforward.

It was a very fun fight and the zone, the CS and the music were very, very good.

    I give it an A+ ^^

The fight is tough but isn't totally unbeatable for PUGs. I think the big problem is that most FFMMO players are so used to tank and spanks that when Yoshi-P comes through with these off the wall mechanics (destroying meteors before they hit the ground) they're not very quick on the uptake or have trouble adjusting..

This is the most exciting fight I've seen in an FFMMO but for other MMOs... This is par for the course.

To Yoshi-P and the devs I say: Keep it up!

Look, the whole stance that this fight is too hard, is way off-base.

Once you know where to stand and accept that you need some mages or ranged in the party on Meteor control, the fight is pretty straight forward.

-Yes, the first night of the patch download, people had yet to post strategies, maps and videos...but now they are EASY to find. Stand where the maps say and you will live.
-The fight is actually EASIER than most battles like it that are 'endgame' worthy...and don't argue that this battle shouldn't be 'endgame' It's for level 45+ characters and IS the end of a storyline

Most things that should annoy your friends that are problematic in other battles, don't exist in this battle.
    1. You can win the battle in basic AF gear
    2. Lag is not a big issue
    3. You can use classes or jobs in this battle with success
    4. Most Pugs can beat it...after a minimal amount of tries

So this IS a casual-friendly battle. With very little background effort, they can just get in the battle and focus on it. Being able to own a boss on your first attempt without any strategy or plan DOES NOT equal casual. Not having to jump through 20 hoops (like relic)or an insane gear check (both of which eat up a lot of RL time to complete or craft) and just being able to 'Log in and do something' is what caters to casuals. Difficulty is not the underlying cause. Again, is a night of wipes=your friends don't want to play this game. Then they won't like it in any version, ever.
