Old FF Music

Since there is an emphasis being placed on making the game more "Final Fantasy" - why not have the option of 'mixing in' old music somehow? Imagine having a Chocobo 'radio' that would play a variation of one of the Chocobo themes from the other games? Likewise, having some NM battles break out the FFVII boss theme would be pretty epic. Having the Balamb's theme (town, not garden) as you fish in Limsa? Amazing.

With a game that you play for potentially thousands of hours, it would be really nice for the music to be a little different every now and then. It wouldn't have to be every time... just a little random sweetener to the game that pops in on random occasions, slightly similar to how you can on occasion wake up with a dream sequence.

I only had the idea because my gf and I flick around the various FF soundtracks we have while we play the game as there is only so much you can take of the same song every time you're running around Ul'dah or Thanalan. What do you guys think?

They totally should. Maybe not randomly but add boss battles from previous FF games and have a remix of the tracks from that game or boss.

I'd prefer if they didn't. I think the current sound team has been putting in some great original music and I want it to stay that way. If you want to hear older music while you play just mute the in game music and play your own. . . I do sometimes when I'm leve grinding since I really do not like most of the levequest music.

As great and nostalgic as this idea may be, I find it a bit insulting to the current composers. it would be a sort of bitter sweet thing for me If something like this were implemented. Also, it can have a pretty large negative effect on the composers currently writing stuff for this game. It may even make them slack. I would say it's best if something like this wasn't implemented mainly because I feel the current sound team deserves a shot at creating memorable music without worrying about it not being "good enough" compared to the otter FF songs from previous games.

They need better sound design for the 2.0 that is more cohesive.

Currently the game lacks a theme and identity that all the other FF titles have.
I want a new game rather than a mixtape from old ones.

I hope 2.0 has less guitar and new arrangements of these songs already in the game. As such they don't fit the areas or the situations.

XIV already has good music the arrangements and cacophony of instruments are holding it back from becoming a great ost.

They've already been kind of doing this.

I read somewhere Moogle's music was a remix from an earlier FF's moogle music, which was inspired by 'The Nightmare Before Christmas"s 'This is Halloween'.

I'm pretty sure I've also heard other tunes from previous FF's, though I could be wrong.

My personal opinion is I would like both. I enjoy completely brand new music (Garuda) along with old music tuned up for XIV. I also thoroughly enjoy the piano overworld music.
