I am a little lost on the current convo, is this a gear set up for war or pld? As what allows pld to be successfull tank will differ greatly from what allows war to be a successfull tank.
In the subject of acc, pld dose not need much if any acc+ gear, i certainly do not stack it and have not suffered for lack of acc gear. as for war, well that is a completly diffrent story, war takes more damage then pld , by far, however they do get a realy nice hp regain effect with rampage. that being said, if you are tanking on warior, your priority list of stats you NEED to stack just got a little bigger. You will definatly need to add acc, str, atk, and crit atk to that list. This , of course, thins out your defensive stat poteincy.
The effect is simple, neither war or pld need worry about enmity as one is built on damage and the other is built on spaming abilities that are also co-opertive with a natural stat selection. WAR is a much squishier tank but if they are well ballanced, make up for squishyness with hp regenative ability (in some cases) problem with war taking more physical damage then pld is its vuneralbilty to death caused from a massive physical attack, ie 100 tonze. That being said, war is naturally a much stronger offensive tank then pld, given they stacked proper stats.
This however dose not throw pld out of the party in situations where dps is an overwhelming need. IF, a pld is stacked in (proper) stats well, they could elminate the need for an additional healer, that MOST (not all) party set ups that include a war tank, would need. By doing this the PLD could potentially INCREASE dps potential by allowing a full dd replace where only a partial dd / tank and healer was perviously needed.
There are pros and cons to either selection, soo how do you decide wich to bring? This may sound like crazy talk to some, but WHAT IF....
you had a pld , stacked to the gills with defensive stats, took damage like a champ and held enmity well (not a therory, actually exists lol) . Now add a WHM for healer , that leaves you with 6 open slots in your party, IF your whm dose not need addtional support ( ie , another whm or brd for mp song) then you can add 6 DDs to the mix. If the fight allows for frontline / mele type dd, you could bring in 5-6 wars with a strickly DPS set up, (no +enmity gear allowed, -enmity gear would be incouraged) But placing dds soo close to the pld tank, plds can actually generate a massive amount of enmity from rampart and the ocasionall aoe heal. And because you are using wariors as dps they have their own deffensive abilities and rampage to keep their HP from bottoming out. All in all this set up ( where possable) is quite possably the strongest dps and strongest tank set up posable in game. Also, by freeing up your war from his/her typical tank postion (in front of the mob) you allow them to make better use of their dd potential by allowing them to proc combos from the side and rear.
