    The DPS is very close to the Sergeant's axe. It's feasible that even though the base DPS is lower that you could get higher (parsed) DPS than the other weapons. Some testing will be needed though. For example, if you are not at the STR cap, but have the sergeant's axe, you could meld some STR to the skirmish axe to reach the cap, which could in theory raise your (parsed) dps higher than what you had with the sergeant's axe. This is my current scenario, so once I get a double melded axe with STR or some combination of STR and +attk, etc I'll do some testing.

    If you can manage to get a tripple/quad meld weapons, and also a couple of tripple/quad meld pieces to hit stat caps you can open up gear options to have capped stats and stack on extra crit rate/potency to tilt your DPS higher. it's certainly possible.

    however i dont' expect this to happen for a while, as many people have trouble just getting double melds, let alone triple/quad.
