He reinstalled. It didn't work.It kind of sounds like you are blaming SE for the power outage. You are aware what happens when a power outage occuers, there odds that memory on your HD can be messed and cause files to be corrupt which is why you may have to reinstall the game.
You clearly stated that others players could log onto his account but you never clearly stated if you actually went through the process of reinstalling his game to see if it would fix the issue. It seems kinda odd to just start a new character for an issue that may have been fixed with by reinstalling but I guess that's their choice.
I mean sure you can start a new character but there's a possibility that if they go into the ward again they may end up in an endless loop when loading. This actually happened to me in XI once where I couldn't zone into a place because I was missing the dat file so I was unable to log onto my character but other characters could. Once I got the dat file to fix said issue I was able to go back into that zone again but honestly it sounds like he just had a corrupted file and may still have one.
Friend A had a power outage. Friend B was playing inside the wards when the wards crashed.
SE is 100% responsible for player's B situation, and they fail to offer a solution for him. This is what's worse.
Yep. He's still unable to login with that specific character.
He also tried restarting his modem.
They logged in to move his stuff to a new character he's made, it didn't solve the login problem. What I dont understand, with what information you provided, is that if others could log in with his account why didnt they move his character out of the wards and then log out. Then he could have at least made the attempt to log in. Seems a bit silly to delete your character.. you can actually live if you dont play for two weeks... and the game isnt that much a month that it will break you if you dont "use" some of that time.
I pay for two accounts, one of which belongs to my seven year old son. You think that account gets used every waking moment? No.. and it doesnt have to, because there is more to life than ffxiv, believe it or not.
Yeah, I would be frustrated too if this happened to me or my sons character. In fact I would be furious, however, with most things if you are patient and use wisdom you will see they often work out for the best. Deleting your character wasnt using wisdom.

The only thing he hasn't done is absolutely formatting his pc. That aside, the client shouldn't be blindly tripping for answers. SE should fix this problem for him. Its their business.

Explain how a person gets a new laptop, logs in at his house were he's always logged in, and gets the "account verification e-mail" from SE? Don't just call someone out with out an explanation, cause its rude.

Same with me, other could log on my account too. but I didn't crash in Wards, it was Mun Tuy cellar. And even if people moved mine/his character, we still couldn't log.
We both re-installed twice and it did nothing. Are we done pretending this is a simple problem that is client side? I hope this happens to some of you so you can sit around and wait weeks on their 'data recovery team.'
Heres a list of things I tried before I just got Ticked off and deleted my character after not being able to play it for almost two weeks:
1) re-install twice
2) port fowarding
3) ask my ISP to make sure the connection to SE server was working fine
4) call customer support. daily. for a week.
5) contact several GM in game on a level 1 character
6) ask people to move my character to all kinds of difference zones and places

Incredible. To be unable log in for 2 weeks?
Did they actually try re installing the game etc before deleting the character?
I have crashed out myself a few times and wound up in the empty 'nowhere' ward ... but I am shocked to hear how bad it can be...
Yes, we both re-installed. it happened to me two weeks ago, and it happened to majidah's person (in one of my LS's as well) about 3 days ago. It would seem it happens somewhat frequently on balmung at least. What ticks me off the most is they have no problem with not helping us recovery our characters for weeks, but still draw the same subscription fee even though I couldn't play for half a month.
What has happened to your friend sucks, I also got stuck in the wards a few weeks ago but was up within a few minutes, it might be the case that SE cannot move your friends character unless he is in game and so because he cannot login he cannot be moved? I would suggest your friend tries to login tomorrow morning and just leave it at the loading screen until he either logs in or gets a error msg. The new 1.23 patch which will force the servers offline might help with resolving your friends character issues. Either that or wait for 2.0?
We've already tried logging on his character and moving it. He crashed in the wards, but right now I think he's camped out in Gridania. he still can't log on.
