Looks pretty fun. Weapons are also lookin' pretty bad ass.

I remember seeing a map for Turtleback Island ages ago, glad to see it finally has some use.
Might as well use all leftover fields prior to 2.0.
That polearm will go well with the DRG AF.

Looks awesome to me, can't wait to try it.

Not saying I'm complaining about it, but I can understand their frustration.
We've been farming weapons since 1.18 about a year ago. Darkhold, Ifrit, Moogle, Materia, Relics, Leuitenant tier, and now Skirmish.
The big question is, if these weapons aren't the best thing out there, why take time away from trying to get a Relic? Sure it stands to reason you want the best-in-slot for your chosen class, but you don't even have to play that class until you have an Unfinished Relic.
Weapons are cool, but there are a lot of slots that won't require them to design a seperate graphic for each sex of each race. They could give belts, rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings or even unique materia.
But I do think people are jumping the gun. There's likely more to this than a few weapons.

Hmm...that sword reminds me of the Master Sword for some reason. Might be the color scheme. Or design of the hilt.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

They likely won't go anywhere, and we are probably correct in assuming that after we claim them in open world, the instanced fight will be identical to the current ones. However, I think the weapons will just become extremely hard to get that way because you will get 1 fight per server per week maybe? It's not like currently where anyone that throws 8 people together can go fight them an infinite amount of times.
Or they can go the route of leaving them in the game how they currently are, as in leaving the quests for the fights in game etc and ALSO having a roaming version with a different instanced fight that ONLY rewards the ability to summon the primal. To avoid loopholes in the lore, they could make the current battles only available during times when they are NOT currently roaming? Just a thought.

While all your opponents will be powerful creatures of notorious monster strength, the rewards will be equal to the risks—claiming victory may well earn you weapons of uncommon quality.

I kind of rolled my eyes at seeing new weapons (again !!)
This dev team are obsessed with weapons, its about time we got more variety in loot from content (Hamlet and AV have some good armour granted)
But I would like to see some more armour choices, ENOUGH WITH THE WEAPONS SE!!!
As much as I want to ignore your posts .. I can't seem to help myself.
I'm sure Yoshi confirmed a while ago that there will be 2 version of the primals the current version will remain for weapons and then the open world will exist fro the summoning card.
And no before you ask I will not go find proof of when or where he said this.
