Well welcome to Final Warcraft, if this game is supposed to be about casuals then wtf am i even paying for, so far ive seen nothing but more and more of the "WoW" influence in it. I have seen ppl ridiculed because they had sub-par gear and were ousted from groups, and all i can think of is that shit didnt happen in XI that much because the job made you not your gear it just helped, but in XIV no gear = gimpass.

As for open world i would love to see a ton of it, but i'm afraid the instanced route is gonna prevail over all simply because its easier for them to manage. Well I say the F$#@ that they get paid to make a great compelling game, not make and easy to manage game for 4 yr olds i mean wtf cmon SE get it togather.

They just need to have a balance. Some things instanced, some things open world. I rather have open world then instanced though.

I don't know what server you played on in XI, but on both servers I played on, gimp DDs were kicked or just not invited if they were known to be gimp. You pretty much had to have O Kote/Scorpion Harness/Hauby if you wanted to level up. Hell, I knew plenty of people who even went to the extent of buying gil to fund their leveling equipment.

I'm not saying that this was a good thing by any means, just pointing out that it's not really anything new.

It's funny how people complain about casuals and warcraft, when:

Many WoW fights are harder than anything in the current FF14. Casuals like it easy, not hard.

Final Fantasy in general has a focus on story, and the online-FFs have tried to do this too, by offering more story stuff than what is common in MMOs. However, an interest in a game's story is a typical trait of casual players rather than hardcore players.

Final Fantasies, traditionally, have never really been very hard games.

So which is the casual game, again? WoW or Final Fantasy?

I definatley agree balance is fine, i just hate to see this game which has so much potential especrially since its getting a second change turn to crap. All the other mmos patterend after WoW, where are they now i sure dnt hear squat about them anymore why is that. Oh maybe its becasue no mmo is gonna knock WoW off its throne ti Blizz decides its time for it to die. I really hope SE take the comon sense to figure that out and make this game something that will appeal to all kinds, casual, hardcore, w/e you are it dont take much to figure out what ppl want besides a poll.

Sky, Sea type content would be a huge shot in the arm for this game at this point and i hope they are listening. Give us something to compete for beside a claim and a chance in an instanced arena. Let the linkshell wars begin with fighting over pop items for massive NMs that drop amazing gear.

Lol let there be hell on eorzea and ppl running crazy for HNMs not some roaming primal that once subbdued may not be seen again for a couple weeks.

well if they cant do mass open world on there new server system just means they need to hire korean designers they been doing huge leaps in the mmo market. and older games had large scale events. if everything is instanced they need to go the PSO route where your in a central lobby then you go in a instanced grind to the boss.

I'm with the OP on this one... we need more open world stuff, it's a good balance (and something different) than doing all this instanced stuff.

I used to be an "Open Worlder" like you guys, but I think I fail to see the difference in the two at this point. Everything can be mimicked in an instance just about that can be done in open world, the only element that is being taken out of the equation is having to deal with 100 other ass hats who want to do the same thing as you at that exact time. Though some content I can understand being open world but end game content I don't really see a point, minus some new HNM type mobs though if it ever became similar to FFXI style HNM I would lose all interest. Mainly due to being the only possible way to have a chance to get a claim on an HNM you had to pass some dude $2500 RL for a super claim bot with packet sniffers to be able to claim the mob before it even visually spawned. Though I have a feeling the PvP is going to have it's own zone or zoned area designated for open world garrison buster feel.

Lag will be less of an issue, if you think this game is gonna be lag free you are gonna be one sad and naive panda come 2.0

Open world content revolves around a lot things. It makes the world feel more alive seeing people in the open world actually fighting and watching linkshells/guilds fighting hard HNMs..you know, making a world feel alive, something people want?

Throwing everything into a closed off area of the game doesn't make an MMO feel alive, this is exactly why GW2 isn't like GW1, they realized an instanced sandbox doesn't make an MMO.
