Yes, you CAN most FFs with attack and cure, but where is the fun in that! Besides I find it's all about trying to make yourself have extremely high damage via skills and magic. Full party with Blink and Reflect was super fun in FFIV. I also beat FFVII the first time without all 3 bahamuts, without ultimate weapons, no mime, no kotr, no omnislash, an under leveled party, etc. Damn if I didn't go back and unlock it all later though to be an unstoppable force of destruction.
On topic, there does seem to be some good info that has come out of the Japan Expo after all! Having Primals roam is going to be great, and the instance part takes care of griefers. Not my ultimate preference, but I'll accept as it's better than we currently have. I also won't judge the quest discussion until I play it. I've been pleasantly surprised by SE lately.

A lot of the games can be beaten without grinding. I beat FFVII at level 43 last time I played through it, seeing how long it would take for me to rush through. Without Omnislash or Kotr, you don't even need cure really. If you're good with the materia system you could beat him at level 30, without any of the best stuff. It's all about strategy and not just going in there swinging like a mad man. I also beat IX at level 50. Even if you DO have to grind in a FF game, 30-45 minutes is enough to get you what you need. I'm hoping 2.0 isn't a massive grindfest, I would love to see enough quests to actually consistently level through quests. For those who complain people won't learn their job by this system, all they have to do is throw you into battles during the quests, and you'll learn how to play sooner or later.

I think the world is going to be a bit more dangerous this time around also they said leve quests are going to stay in the game so I assume some sort of areas where you can grind a group of mobs with a group will still be available. Though finding a camp may be a lot harder with all the diversity they are adding to the game. Just wait til 2.0 beta in a few months and give it a shot.i dont think is better or worse, some people like to level up grinding quests, and some people like to level grinding monsters.
I prefer to level up grinding monsters, is something that you will find in every Final Fantasy.. running around a forest to kill the same group of monster to level up. I hope they allow to level up grinding monsters.

No you can't cause if you use only Commando's and medics in 13's you will die to some bosses cause you can't dmg them till the stagger so that's wrong, or if you take to long you will get the Doom spell on you, so you are FORCED to use magic in XIII.

Thank you tombah =D really like the miqote one!
