Sure, AF gear is for the people who don't want to spend the gil and waste their money on double-triple melds, whether buying it already melded or doing it themselves. However, can't we continue along this line and give options to the people who want to wear their free gear, in order to make such a practice practical?

It's free, but we did quest for it - as it stands now, if you don't quest for your AF you miss out on abilities that your job REQUIRES. I think that upgrades, whether melded or +1 like FFXI or otherwise, are a fair option to those who would like to take that road.

Just because YOU don't like the AF doesn't mean it shouldn't be given practicality. I don't give two nuts if I'll be able to meld it, or upgrade it through quests or other means - but I think my AF pieces could use a boost, so I don't need to spend hundreds of thousands or even millions of gil on double/triple melds, especially when I don't have that kind of cash.

If FFXIV goes the course of XI, we'll eventually get Relic armor, and both AF and AF2 will be upgradeable, so your argument right now is as good as moot.

Then use fkin single melds You don't need dbl or triple melds to beat any content in this game. Like i said a lot of jobs af is really good it just sounds like you guys want free upgrades.

You can upgrade a job like pgl/mnk with out almost any dbl melds np.

Head : Temple Circlet.
Body : GC Tabard.
Hands: Temple Gloves/Single meld Str gloves.
Legs: Af pants/ Single meld str/vit pants.
Feet: AF feet / Explorers boots.

All of these options are fine till you can afford dbl/darklight gear. You guys just want easy free upgrades. Only class that has rly bad AF is BLM/PLD.

I'm advocating for upgrades through quests, materials, and killing NMs or mobs that make us work for it, but in the end will make our 'free armor' more viable than they were previously. you are correct that people dont NEED double+ melds to beat content. But people make it that way by when they boot people from pick up parties when your wear full af or dont have double+ melded gear. People set that bar, and SE doesnt help when they straight up said "Dropped gear will NEVER be as good as crafted gear." The does things like Speed runs or add content that reduces stuff to be Blm x 6, whm, Pld pts.
