except that af is so terrible that most people get booted from parties if they wearing full af.

and being able to meld it would fix the problem slightly. 1 single meld so no chance of it blowing up. and anything double melded still beats af so you still make profits off of crafted gear.

1 single meld and it will no longer be uniform
whats that matter if its not longer uniform if no one wears it anyway? If its just for looks then they shouldve just given it to us for free not running around and doing dungeons or boss fights to sit in a armiore collecting dust.

If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.
FOR DOCKHAND!
I'd like to be able to meld all gear regardless of U/U or not. Simply increase drop rate of dungeon gear so ppl can actually get it again when meld attempts blow it up, or do what OP said with a minimum wait time b4 u can meld again.
No. AF is not 'too old', but came out after the Materia system was implemented.
I agree. Just give it one meld slot, it'd be nothing gamebreaking at all. While I see both side of the argument here.. I do believe they should allow only ONE meld per piece of AF gear. 100% success rate, and everything else could stay the same.
AF needs something, many people do prefer the gear for its bonus and looks. One meld wouldn't be gamebreaking and allow for slight customisability.
Carry on~

Ppl are pissing me off with but if i could single meld it! WTF were you guys wearing before af came out? None melded crafting gear? If you wanna wear af wear it, if you wanna get the best stats you can work for it.
That is bs do you know how good 40 atk + 20 str on gloves would be for the main DD classes. If you guys wanna wear af wear it. Oh how about we add 10 EMP to whm's already super good head piece... AF gear is fine, wear it if you like the way it looks so much or just support the vanity slots thread, cause it seems most of you want it for the looks.I agree. Just give it one meld slot, it'd be nothing gamebreaking at all.

You're not getting the point. In fact, it flew over your head.Ppl are pissing me off with but if i could single meld it! WTF were you guys wearing before af came out? None melded crafting gear? If you wanna wear af wear it, if you wanna get the best stats you can work for it.

Sure, AF gear is for the people who don't want to spend the gil and waste their money on double-triple melds, whether buying it already melded or doing it themselves. However, can't we continue along this line and give options to the people who want to wear their free gear, in order to make such a practice practical?
It's free, but we did quest for it - as it stands now, if you don't quest for your AF you miss out on abilities that your job REQUIRES. I think that upgrades, whether melded or +1 like FFXI or otherwise, are a fair option to those who would like to take that road.
Just because YOU don't like the AF doesn't mean it shouldn't be given practicality. I don't give two nuts if I'll be able to meld it, or upgrade it through quests or other means - but I think my AF pieces could use a boost, so I don't need to spend hundreds of thousands or even millions of gil on double/triple melds, especially when I don't have that kind of cash.
If FFXIV goes the course of XI, we'll eventually get Relic armor, and both AF and AF2 will be upgradeable, so your argument right now is as good as moot.
